26 May - national forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Britannia.
00:03We've got an onset of a week of weather in store across the UK, a fairly active jet stream
00:07feeding areas of low pressure in from the west, one low pressure system after another,
00:11so we'll see spells of wet and at times fairly windy weather affecting all parts of the UK.
00:15Back to the detail hour for today, and we've got some sunshine this morning across the
00:19south and east, certainly to start with. Showers from the word go out towards northern and
00:22western spots. As we go through the morning, those showers will start to migrate their
00:26way eastward, so most areas will see some showers, and those showers out towards the west,
00:30tending to merge to give some more persistent outbreaks of rain as we head into the afternoon.
00:34Certainly across Northern Ireland and parts of Wales, we can see some quite heavy bursts
00:37heading into the second part of the day. Quite a blustery day once again, particularly towards
00:41the north and north-west. Local gale is still possible here, and temperatures quite disappointing
00:45for the time of year. In the range low to mid-teens towards the north and west of the UK, locally
00:50up towards the upper teens, up to 18 Celsius, 64 in Fahrenheit though, giving the best of the
00:55sunshine towards the south and east. As we head into the evening and through the overnight
00:59period, outbreaks of rain will start to move in from the west, pushing eastwards across
01:02all parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. So it's the north of Scotland holding on to
01:06the best of the clear spells between some showers, and rain slowly clearing for most areas into the
01:10early hours of Tuesday. So by the end of the night, it will be a case of clear spells and scattered
01:14showers. Most of the showers by Tuesday morning, up towards the north and west. Again, quite blustery in
01:19nature, and turning quite chilly under the clear spells in the north there. Could see a touch of frost
01:23once again by Tuesday morning, whereas towards the south, temperatures generally hold up in double
01:26figures. As for Tuesday itself, well, plenty of bright weather in the morning, just one or two
01:31showers around again, especially towards the north and north-west. But notice out towards the west
01:34and south-west some more persistent spells of rain gathering, and those start to push east and
01:38north-eastwards across most of the UK as we head through the day. It's just the north of Scotland
01:42heading into the afternoon. It will hold on to some sunshine between the scattering of showers.
01:47Temperatures a little bit down on where they should be for the time of year, certainly out towards the
01:50north and west into the low to mid, locally up 18 Celsius, peaking in the south-east at 20 Celsius,
01:55that's 68 in Fahrenheit. That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to the
02:00Met Office forecast by following us on social media and by subscribing to our YouTube channel.
02:05I'll see you soon. Take care for now. Bye-bye.
