Having been bought by Steve Parkin of Clipper Logistics, Dullingham Park is
00:04
establishing itself as a new stallion farm and new market. Standing on their
00:08
roster for 2024 is solid young sire Soldiers Call and champion sprinter of
00:14
2023 Shaquille. Fabienne Parkin and Ollie Folston spoke to TDN about this new
00:19
division for Clipper Logistics who are already a hugely successful owner
00:23
breeder operation. Dullingham Park is my family's new stallion venture which is
00:29
very exciting. We purchased Dullingham last year and we have sort of
00:35
revolutionized it, knocked a few things down, built a few new stallion boxes and
00:40
a covering shed and you know sort of turned it into our station down here
00:44
which is really nice to have you know a base and new market. Shaquille is our new
00:49
stallion for the season. He joined us after he finished his racing career with
00:53
Judy Camacho and Steve Brown. He arrived in September looking absolutely
00:58
fantastic and we couldn't be more excited to have him. He lit up the race
01:03
courses throughout the summer. He was the world's highest rated three-year-old
01:09
sprinter. He was a Cartier champion sprinter as well and he'll be crowned
01:12
European champion sprinter for the year. He obviously won the Commonwealth Cup
01:16
very impressively and then backed it up beating the older horses in the July Cup
01:20
so yeah we couldn't couldn't be more excited to have him here for the year.
01:23
He's just a very good-looking horse. He's got, he's beautifully balanced, he's a
01:26
great walker, he's very correct in front, he's got lovely big feet on him, he's got
01:31
a lovely head as well, good shoulder, lovely wide hip on him and yeah he's
01:36
hopefully you know if we can if we can get the first crop of foals looking and
01:39
walking like him that would be the first big hurdle jumped. It's been exceptional
01:42
how he settled in really because we've had so much building work going on and
01:45
diggers around the place and he's not battered an eyelid at all really and
01:50
he's he's like he's lived here for a few years and funnily enough the first night
01:54
that he ever spent on the farm here was the first night he had ever spent away
01:57
from the Camachos because he was born there as well. Obviously he was an unbelievably
02:00
exciting prospect and you know between the team of the Camachos and Martin Hughes
02:06
and Michael Kerdanian who bred him and raced him you know he was obviously such
02:12
an exciting racehorse and the proposition came up to you know go into
02:15
partnership with them and it you know why would you refuse that he's an
02:19
exceptional racehorse and it's very exciting to stand at stud and the
02:25
proposition came up and we decided why would you not and also you know I think
02:30
as much as you want to race and breed and breed then race and stand your own
02:36
stallions either from your that you've bred or that you've bought we are not
02:40
afraid to go out there and you know buy a nice stallion prospect and invest in
02:45
the industry and in the English market. We've got soldiers call coming from
02:48
Ballyhayne stud in Ireland so he starts his fifth covering season this year he's
02:53
had four seasons at Ballyhayne and Joe's done a great job starting him off he's
02:57
got big numbers on the ground so he's I think he's got a hundred and five two
03:00
years to run from him for him this year and I think he's got even bigger books
03:03
to come so you know we couldn't be more excited and it's something for
03:07
breeders to look forward to as well because they know numerically he's got
03:09
he's got soldiers on the ground. We're really lucky with soldiers call
03:13
because he obviously well Joe fairly bought him as a yearling and then we
03:16
raced him and he was very successful he won at Royal Ascot obviously in the
03:21
Windsor Castle and then went on to win the Prix d'Arenberg and the Flying
03:25
Childers in a treble which was lovely so yeah the natural progression then was
03:30
you know he's a very good call and why don't we stand him as a stallion which
03:34
was really exciting and then from there it's all just progressed you know we've
03:38
had a few more stallions in Ireland that we've either invested in or raced and
03:43
then stood at Ballyhayne with Joe so yeah it's fantastic and then now being
03:47
able to offer the English breeders a service over here and you know try and
03:52
do the best to them and we are English owner breeders and to sort of support
03:57
the English market is really exciting for us.
