00:00Daniel McLaughlin is Ireland's youngest trainer and he is based in Cunningham Lodge just across
00:07from the Maddenstown Gallops on the Curragh. Although young in appearance, McLaughlin comes
00:12across much wiser than his years and has a realistic grip on running a yard. His is a name
00:17worth taking note of. It's just a thing that I always enjoy getting up and doing. From when I
00:25was young, young age, I started in Adrian Keatley's when I was about 13 and I suppose like everything
00:32for all of us in the game, whether it's breeding or training or riding, we all get in it for
00:38the same reason, which is falling in love with the racehorse. I love getting up every morning
00:42and facing into doing what I'm doing and I suppose that's how it is and that's how it
00:48started. So it's a love for the game. I'm in Cunningham Lodge here in Maddenstown,
00:53inside of the Curragh. This place needs no introduction. It's steeped in history. Like
00:59Tracy Collins trained to wear and still trains out here and her father before, Colin Collins,
01:06and I think his father and then his grandfather. I know it goes back a long way. It's a beautiful
01:12place. It's a very peaceful place where the horses get relaxed and like any given time you
01:18go into the barn during the day, the horse are always lying down and they're relaxed and I think
01:23that's a big help to the whole lot of it as well. I wouldn't have really experienced
01:29Con Collins in his day. I heard loads of stories about him and one thing people have always said
01:35is with coming up to Derby weekend was Con Collins is in the Madden Derby weekend. Things like that
01:41I've heard of but very early when I came here, Tracy and Pat invited me into the house one day and I
01:47went into the house and there was there was very very little wall left. Look if I could be one tenth of the
01:54trainer that he was. I definitely get me 70 years out of it anyway but look in Ireland it's very tight
02:00but all you can do in any walk of life I think is give it your best shot. I feel a lot older than
02:07probably what I am and I probably feel like I've skipped a few years. I don't think I know what it
02:12feels like to be 18 or things like that but look that's all part of it is growing up quick and it's
02:17not easy and there's no point in hiding it but financially it's tough giving it a good go anyway
02:24having a bit of success having a bit of luck good lads around me good people around me always
02:29supporting me and they're doing their job anyway giving me the full faith whether it's owners the
02:35staff friends family everything and that's what keeps me going as well is people around me that have
02:42believed in me because no matter what I've done in life I always believed in myself.
