00:00It is expected that the situation in Ilocos Norte will be stable once the Salt Processing Center is opened.

00:07This is Emma Joyce Guillermo of PIA Ilocos Norte for Balitang Pambansa.

00:13It is expected that the salt making industry in Burgos, Ilocos Norte will be more advanced

00:18once the Department of Science and Technology opens the Gourmet Salt Processing and Analysis Center of Dong Martes.

00:26Through this project, the local salt makers of Mariposa Salt Producers Association were inspired

00:32to make different flavored salts such as native garlic, black garlic, garlic and onion, native onion, and seaweed or gamete salt.

00:40These products are sold at a starting price of Php 120 to Php 280 per bottle depending on the type of salt.

00:49The DOST has trained 6 people to run the facility, including Marisol Baniaga, who is from the family of salt makers.

00:58We are very excited to bring our products to the salt processing and analysis center.

01:09According to DOST Region 1 Director Teresita Tabaog, through this new facility,

01:15not only will the local salt in Burgos be given a new importance and importance,

01:19but it will also be a path for more opportunities in the market

01:24and a more sustainable life for the salt makers in the area.

01:27You can consider this as a specialty salt.

01:30This is not yet available in the Philippines.

01:32And what we thought is to come up with a product where the source of main raw mat is Burgos.

01:40This project proves that with the help of science and technology,

01:44the traditional industry can move towards a more innovative and profitable future.
