00:00Donald Trump signs a slew of executive orders on his first day back at the White House after

00:06being inaugurated as the 47th U.S. President.

00:10U.S. President Donald Trump says he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin very soon

00:15under his new doctrine called peace through strength.

00:22Several people have died and dozens more have been hospitalized after a fire broke out at

00:26a ski resort in Turkey's Bolu province.

00:35Donald Trump has returned to the White House.

00:38He was sworn in as the 47th U.S. President, succeeding Joe Biden, who defeated him four

00:43years ago in the 2020 presidential election.

00:46Trump's inauguration was slightly altered from standard protocol, with the swearing-in

00:50ceremony being held indoors due to bad weather.

00:54U.S. executives and foreign dignitaries, including heads of state, attended the event.

01:00And after taking the oath of office, the so-called Golden Age of America was in motion.

01:47In keeping his campaign promises, the U.S. President wasted no time upon his return to

01:51the Oval Office.

01:53Trump signed a series of executive orders covering a range of topics from climate and

01:57energy to TikTok.

02:00But the one that stood out most was his full pardoning of perpetrators behind the January

02:046 Capitol Hill riots.

02:05Yes, sir.

02:06First, we have a list of pardons and commutations relating to events that occurred on January

02:076, 2021.

02:08Okay.

02:09And how many people are in this?

02:10I think this order will apply to approximately 1,500 people, sir.

02:11So this is January 6th, and these are the hostages, approximately 1,500 for a pardon.

02:30The U.S. President also signed an order instating 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico, starting

02:39on the 1st of February.

02:41Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Trump on his inauguration.

03:03Trump promised in his campaign trail to end the ongoing war in Ukraine on his first day

03:07in office.

03:08He has since retracted that claim, instead offering what he called a more realistic six-month

03:13timeline to achieve that objective.

03:18At a speech during the Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball, U.S. President Donald Trump

03:22said the U.S. would achieve peace through strength, an expression he used in his inauguration

03:26speech.

03:27Trump said he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin very soon and said Putin was

03:30destroying Russia by refusing to negotiate a ceasefire with Ukraine.

03:34However, details on how Trump would broker a peace deal between Moscow and Kiev remains

03:38to be scarce.

03:39We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars we end,

03:46and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into.

03:49It's called peace through strength.

03:52We won't have to fight the war.

03:55Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media that peace through strength

03:58policy would actually provide an opportunity to strengthen American leadership and achieve

04:02a long-term and just peace.

04:04When asked if Trump thought Israel and Hamas would maintain the ceasefire deal, which days

04:08earlier Trump claimed credit for, he said he is not confident that it will last.

04:13Trump also reversed sanctions on Israeli settler groups accused of violence against Palestinians

04:17in the occupied West Bank with an executive order.

04:25With this sign across the facade on Ukraine house in Davos, Kiev seems to be sending a

04:30strong message to one single person, the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

04:38While politicians and business leaders here are trying to figure out what would his second

04:43term in the White House mean for political, economic and trade cooperation with the United

04:48States, for Ukraine the stakes are as high as they can get, as Russia's full-scale invasion

04:55is nearing the three-year mark.

05:00The first day of the Davos week felt like the calm before the storm as the world's attention

05:04is drawn to Washington and the inauguration ceremony.

05:14What are your expectations from the new, the old new President of the United States?

05:18So we're excited.

05:20I think this real buzz of excitement and we just put out a brand new survey this morning.

05:25So 77% of American business in Ukraine is very excited.

05:29Our members over 60% are forecasting a ceasefire in 2025.

05:35So we expect a ceasefire this year in 2025 and we look forward to working with the new

05:40administration, the new administration where so many are from business and are pro-business.

05:50Europeans seem to be more cautious about Trump's second term than Ukrainians are.

05:54Be weaponized to persecute.

05:56I think what Ukrainians have shown and what they've seen is this resilience is phenomenal.

06:02Many people in America, in the American government three years ago were saying that Ukraine at

06:07key with a fall within three days.

06:09Here we are three years on Ukraine stands, Kiev stands and business, business stands

06:14united with Ukraine.

06:16And I think those are the messages we want to get across.

06:18And that's where the optimism comes from.

06:21I think it's showing that Ukraine is open for business, that Ukrainians are showing

06:25phenomenal results on the front line defending the country and they continue to do so today.

06:33During his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly said that he could put an

06:37end to Russia's war against Ukraine in 24 hours.

06:41In a rather harsh reality check, Trump later said that a six-month timeline for ending

06:45the war was more realistic.

06:48What matters for Ukraine, though, is not how fast it will be, but on what conditions.

06:56The families of the three released Israeli hostages delivered a joint statement expressing

07:01their gratitude to all parties involved in securing their return.

07:05Romy Gonen, Emily Damari and Dorange Timebreaker were the first three hostages released by

07:10Hamas after a ceasefire deal with Israel went into effect on Sunday.

07:47The family members thanked their government for finally moving forward with a deal that

07:50facilitates the release of hostages, as well as mediators Qatar and Egypt.

07:56They also had lots of gratitude to U.S. presidents involved in the deal, Joe Biden and Donald

08:01Trump, particularly the latter.

08:05We got to this point after too long, and without Trump's involvement, this wouldn't have happened.

08:11We also wanted to thank U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who, thanks to his strong stance

08:17on Israel, has strengthened the human good.

08:22The families say the young women are doing well, noting that it will be a long road to

08:27recovery.

08:28They've urged the families of all hostages still under captivity to continue protesting

08:32to ensure the government fully implements the deal and all hostages are released.

09:02They added that the wooden cladding on the exterior of the hotel may have accelerated

09:06the spread of the fire.

09:09They added that the hotel is on the side of a cliff, hampering efforts to combat the flames.

09:14Two of the victims died after jumping from the building in a panic, according to Bolu's

09:19governor.

09:20The fire occurred during the school semester break, when many skiers from Istanbul and

09:26Ankara head to the Bolu mountains.

09:30Other hotels at the resort were evacuated as a precaution and guests were placed in

09:34hotels around Bolu.

09:46Bisphenol A is now fully banned from coming into contact with food products.

09:51As of Monday, the European Union has prohibited the use of this endocrine disruptor in food

09:58containers.

09:59This chemical, commonly found in cans, food storage containers and water bottles, can

10:04contaminate food products.

10:14Bisphenol A has been listed as a substance of very high concern under the EU flagship

10:23legislation since 2006 for its properties as toxic for reproduction and for its endocrine

10:30disrupting properties for human health since 2017.

10:34So these are the main concerns about Bisphenol A.

10:39And Bisphenol A is associated to health concerns such as breast cancer, neurobarrier disorders

10:48and diabetes.

10:50The European Union is a pioneer in banning bisphenols.

10:53However, this prohibition is the result of a long scientific and political process considered

10:59too lengthy by NGOs.

11:01It has been a long-awaited decision.

11:04Scientists have been calling for the ban of bisphenols for more than a decade.

11:09There's been a report on bisphenol and the concern about bisphenols from the European

11:13Environment Agency more than a decade ago.

11:17So it's been a long process and we're hoping now that the follow-up decisions and steps

11:24for the use of bisphenols in other consumer products will come quickly.

11:30The NGO hopes the European Union will agree to broaden the ban on Bisphenol A, with the

11:36next potential targets being children's toys.
