Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05
There's a lot of cloud in the forecast through the next few days.
00:08
One or two brighter breaks likely, particularly in the north,
00:11
sheltered from the southwest wind.
00:13
At the same time, where the cloud is thick enough,
00:15
poor visibility as it shrouds the hills and mountains
00:18
and also some patchy rain and drizzle.
00:20
High pressure sits just to the south of England and Wales.
00:22
At the same time, low pressure sits towards the north of Scotland.
00:26
Always then with a squeeze on the ice bars
00:28
and these weather fronts just grazing the north as well as the west
00:31
as we head through the next few days.
00:33
In fact, winds will pick up further through into the early hours of Friday morning.
00:37
Lighter breezes always across central and eastern areas
00:41
and that's pretty much how we see the beginning of the weekend.
00:44
Now for the time being, watch out for that low cloud,
00:47
hill fog, lower levels of fog as well.
00:50
Towards the northwest, yes a stronger wind here.
00:53
We could see some patchy drizzle where the cloud is thick enough
00:56
and across the southern uplands, Pennine districts, the Cumbrian Felds,
00:59
down towards the Welsh mountains and hills,
01:02
some spots of rain and drizzle can't be ruled out.
01:05
At the same time, one or two clearer slots towards the east in shelter
01:09
and that will allow temperatures to dip down to low single figures.
01:12
So there's a chance of one or two pockets of frost as we head into Wednesday morning.
01:18
For most, temperatures will be well above freezing,
01:21
especially across the north as well as the west,
01:23
coming in around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius,
01:25
probably around 4 to 6 across mid Wales,
01:28
down towards the southeast of England, northeast England, southeast Scotland.
01:33
So first thing then on Wednesday morning, if you are travelling,
01:36
watch out for that low cloud, that fog, poor visibility,
01:40
hindering your journey, take extra care and extra time.
01:43
Clearer skies though across Northern Ireland
01:46
and as we head through the morning into the afternoon,
01:48
we will see breaks in the clouds just coming in across Scotland, northeast England,
01:52
perhaps even the Welsh borders down towards the west country.
01:56
Thicker cloud always across the Midlands, the southeast
01:59
and across the far north and northwest of Scotland again,
02:02
with some outbreaks of rain moving in across the outer Hebrides
02:05
and just clipping the far northwest of mainland Scotland.
02:09
Elsewhere, some clearer skies to end the day for Northern Ireland,
02:12
the central belt of Scotland, Aberdeenshire,
02:14
also Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and the north of Wales,
02:18
perhaps seeing some clearer skies.
02:20
Temperatures then typically coming in around 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.
02:25
Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, not a lot of change to be honest,
02:30
yet again we will see some clearer skies,
02:32
we could see some fog where the winds remain light.
02:36
Always a brisk breeze across the northwest of Scotland,
02:39
coming up across Northern Ireland, a bit of a breeze here mixing things up.
02:42
But where we see those clearer skies, there is a chance of some pockets of frost
02:46
as we head into Thursday morning, northern England, northern parts of Wales,
02:49
the Midlands, even shelter spots of eastern Scotland.
02:53
Now through Thursday morning, mostly dry yet again,
02:57
some stubborn clouds, perhaps even some fog patches.
03:00
Temperatures struggling to rise above around 6 or 7 degrees Celsius
03:04
across England and Wales, perhaps 9 down towards the southwest,
03:06
10 for western Scotland, perhaps a 10 across southern parts of Northern Ireland.
03:10
And your outlook through Friday, spot the difference, a lot of clouds,
03:14
temperatures struggling across England and Wales,
03:16
perhaps a 10 towards the northwest. See you later.
