00:00
Good morning to all of you and live from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:05
The time is now Sunday, December 22, 2024.
00:11
And in our latest satellite images,
00:14
we can see that we are being watched by a tropical depression
00:18
that is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:22
This is the last sighting of a tropical depression
00:25
that is 620 kilometers away from the southern part of Pag-asa Island
00:30
in Kalayaan, here in Mahapalawan.
00:33
We are not ignoring the possibility
00:35
that the Philippine Area of Responsibility
00:38
could enter this storm that we are monitoring.
00:42
And it is also possible that we will have a tropical cyclone wind signal
00:45
particularly in the Kalayaan Islands.
00:49
And if this storm enters our PAR
00:52
or if we have a tropical cyclone wind signal
00:55
in the Kalayaan Islands, in Palawan,
00:58
we will call this storm the Romina Storm.
01:02
This is the 18th storm in our country,
01:07
in our PAR this year, 2024.
01:10
Meanwhile, the shear line is still continuing
01:13
particularly here in the eastern part of Southern Luzon and Kabisayaan.
01:18
And so is the Northeast Monsoon or AMIHAN,
01:20
particularly in the northern part of Luzon.
01:23
And today, there is still a high chance of rain
01:26
in a large part of Kabisayaan, Bicol Region,
01:29
as well as in Mimaropa.
01:31
This is the end of the shear line.
01:34
While the sky is cloudy,
01:36
there is a slight chance of rain
01:38
in a large part of Luzon,
01:40
particularly in Cordillera,
01:42
as well as here in the Cagayan Valley Region, Central Luzon,
01:45
and even here in Metro Manila.
01:47
And some parts of Calabarzon will experience
01:50
cloudy skies with rain.
01:53
The trough or extension of the storm
01:55
that is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility
01:58
will bring cloudy skies with rain
02:01
particularly in parts of the Buanga Peninsula,
02:04
in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
02:07
In ten parts of our region,
02:09
generally, we are still in fair weather
02:11
while there is a possibility of isolated
02:14
and low-pressure areas.
02:18
Aside from the storm we are monitoring outside the park,
02:22
we are not monitoring any low-pressure areas at the moment.
02:26
And this is what we expect
02:28
the weather will be like here in Luzon.
02:30
We will see a high chance of rain.
02:32
So, to our fellow countrymen,
02:34
especially to those who will stay in the province,
02:36
I expect that in a part of Bicol Region,
02:39
Calabarzon, and a large part of Mimaropa,
02:42
we will see cloudy skies with rain
02:44
along the shoreline,
02:45
while cloudy skies with low rainfall
02:48
will be experienced in a part of Cagayan Valley Region,
02:51
Cordillera, Central Luzon, and Metro Manila
02:54
along the Northeast Monsoon or Hanging Amihan.
02:57
Here in Ilocos Region, generally, we are in fair weather
03:00
with isolated light rains.
03:03
In Lawag, 22 to 31 degrees Celsius
03:07
will be the highest temperature.
03:08
In Togegarang, 22 to 28 degrees Celsius,
03:11
16 to 24 degrees Celsius.
03:13
In Baguio and Manila, 24 to 29 degrees Celsius.
03:16
In Tagaytay, 21 to 27 degrees Celsius.
03:19
While in Legazpi, 25 to 29 degrees Celsius.
03:25
Here we are in Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
03:28
Here in Palawan, the trough or extension
03:32
of Tropical Depression will be affected
03:34
outside of PAR
03:35
and will bring cloudy skies with rain
03:37
in a part of Palawan.
03:39
And in a large part of Visayas,
03:42
we will also experience cloudy skies
03:44
with scattered rainfalls of shear line.
03:47
In Calayan Islands, the water temperature
03:49
is 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.
03:51
In Puerto Princesa, 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
03:54
In Iloilo, 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.
03:57
While in Cebu, 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
04:00
In Tacloban, 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.
04:04
The trough or extension of Tropical Depression
04:07
outside of PAR will bring cloudy skies
04:11
with scattered rainfalls in Zamboanga Peninsula,
04:14
Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
04:17
In a large part of Mindanao,
04:19
we will experience generally fair weather
04:21
but we will still have isolated rain showers
04:23
and thunderstorms that we can experience
04:25
during this day in Mindanao.
04:27
In Zamboanga City, the water temperature
04:29
is 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.
04:32
In Davao, 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
04:35
While in Cagayan de Oro, 24 to 31 degrees Celsius.
04:39
Tomorrow, we will still expect rainy weather
04:42
in a large part of Bicol Region
04:44
along with Quezon Province
04:46
and a large part of Mimaropa.
04:48
In particular, in Bicol Region,
04:53
it is possible that it will still be rainy
04:55
so there is a high chance of sudden floods
04:58
and landslides.
05:02
On December 24, Tuesday,
05:05
we still expect a high chance of rain
05:08
in a large part of Bicol Region
05:10
along with Northern Samar
05:12
and a few parts of Mimaropa.
05:14
It is possible that it will reach Isabela and Aurora
05:17
which are the tip of the Shire Line
05:19
and the Northeast Monsoon.
05:21
So, our countrymen should be careful
05:23
in the areas where we expect
05:25
a high chance of rain
05:27
tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday.
05:32
We have also raised the gale warning
05:35
especially in Batanes,
05:37
Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte,
05:39
Ilocos Sur, and Kalayaan Island.
05:43
It is still dangerous for small sea vehicles
05:46
and small boats to sail
05:48
in the mentioned areas
05:51
because the sea will be unstable
05:54
due to strong winds.
05:58
The sun will rise at 6.16 am
06:02
and set at 5.32 pm.

06:10
as I mentioned earlier,
06:12
it is possible that the Philippine Area of Responsibility
06:15
will enter the area outside of PAR
06:17
or it is also possible that we will raise
06:19
the Tropical Cyclone Wind signal
06:21
in Kalayaan Island.
06:23
We will give you an update later.
