00:00Mt. Kanloan, without warning or familiar telltale signs, discharged a good load of volcanic

00:06ash and debris some 4 kilometers high and has prompted a corresponding upgrade in threat

00:11alert from Level 2 to Level 3.

00:14As such, a 6-kilometer radius from Volcano Summit down the slopes has been set for immediate

00:19evacuation to all those living or settled there.

00:26Mt. Kanloan in Negros Island erupted unexpectedly this afternoon emitting thick smoke and ash

00:32up to 4 kilometers high for 7 minutes.

00:36Alert Level 3 is now in effect and residents within the 6-kilometer danger zone have been

00:41evacuated.

00:42In a press conference, the Pheobots DOSD warned of potential lahar and further eruptions in

00:47the aftermath of Mt. Kanloan's latest activity.

00:51Fifteen barangays have been affected thus far even as ashfall depends on wind direction

00:56while evacuations are afoot.

00:58In an interview with Kanloan City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas of Negros Occidental, he

01:03confirmed the ongoing evacuations.

01:22The health department has advised the public about the potential health risks from the

01:26eruption of Mt. Kanloan.

01:28Regional offices of the department are on white-code status in response to the situation.

01:51Relief efforts are underway for those affected by Mt. Kanloan's eruption.

01:59The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 7 has prepared over 84,000 food packs

02:05and 27,000 non-food items for distribution.
