00:00There is a possibility that Kanla'an volcano may erupt again, similar to the event that occurred earlier this morning,

00:07which lasted nearly an hour and sent an ash plume up to 4 kilometers high.

00:11This is one of the scenarios currently being monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, or FIVOX,

00:18as the volcano remains under alert level 3.

00:21FIVOX also cited another possible scenario, a slow ascent of magma that could lead to lava flow from the crater,

00:28similar to past eruptions of Mayon Volcano.

00:31On the other hand, the movement of magma might seize.

00:35The volcano could be downgraded to alert level 2.

00:38But should the situation escalate, authorities may raise the alert to level 4.

00:42According to FIVOX, the eruption should not be classified as a major one, but rather a moderately explosive event,

00:49which occurred due to the decreased sulfur dioxide emissions and volcanic earthquakes.

00:54Ashfall has been reported in La Carlota City, Bago City, and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.

01:01The eruption also caused a grass fire on the eastern slopes of Kanla'an volcano.

01:07In the meantime, the Office of Civil Defense, or OCD, is preparing for the possibility that alert level 4 may be declared.

01:15If this happens, the danger zone around the volcano could expand to a 10-kilometer radius.
