New Gracie Spinks Way sign at Poolsbrook Country Park
Transcript
00:00Hi, I'm Councillor Mick Bagshaw, I'm the leader of Staveley Matters on Stavestown Council.
00:06We started this six months ago and to see it in full tradition today, it's a great honour
00:12and also to have Richard here representing his family and what have you.
00:20It is a good thing for Richard's family as well as community safety because now everybody
00:29will know this route as Gracie Speaks Way forever and more.
00:35Hi, I'm Paul Jacobs, I'm the Liberal Democrat group leader on Stavetown Council and I'd
00:42like to say how happy and honoured I am that we've got these signs finally erected.
00:46I know it meant a lot to Richard and it's meant a lot to us as well.
00:50It provides an uplift to the actual area, it provides a suitable memoriam for Gracie
00:57and I'm very, very pleased to be here.
01:02Councillor Carl Chambers from Staveley Matters and I'm truly grateful for all the effort
01:08Councillor Bagshaw put into this to help the Spinks' family.
01:15I can't really thank these guys enough really.
01:19Certainly Gracie would be so proud of that signpost when she used to go up here so often
01:27on this trail with her horse and I think it's a great tribute, an ongoing permanent
01:31tribute to her life and how people can remember her and also remind people of what we're trying
01:37to do with the campaign with regard to making changes across all the police forces in the
01:42country.
01:43Derbyshire have made changes, Cheshire have got a great unit in place dealing with stalking
01:47complaints and reports so that's what we want to do across the country but to have these
01:53guys on this with their tenacity and their dedication since April has been amazing and
01:58to have achieved it, it's incredible so I can't thank them enough and it's a great
02:03tribute to them and to Gracie and as it says on the sign, Gracie Spinks Way.
02:09May I add on that, I'd like to thank the community for giving us the support.
02:17Gracie got well known up here because she was very often riding paddy up here and after
02:24speaking to Richard we found out this is one of her favourite rides anyway so it's a great
02:29honour, a great privilege and it must be one of the top things I've ever done in my career.
02:36Can't thank you enough you guys, thank you, thank you very much Richard, brilliant, thank
02:41you Richard, thanks, thank you, good man.
