Hello, this is Angus at the Bureau of Meteorology with a look at the national weather forecast
00:04
for Friday the 8th of November, and we are expecting some rain to develop across southern
00:09
parts of Western Australia on Friday, could bring a spot of wet weather to Perth there.
00:14
Elsewhere, a few storms around this part of the country here and a continuation of warm
00:18
conditions for parts of the east coast.
00:21
It's been very warm in Queensland and Friday will be another hot day across the state,
00:25
with temperatures as much as 5 to 7 degrees above usual for the time of year along the
00:30
east coast and the eastern interior.
00:33
We do expect to see some showers develop across the southeast as well, with possible thunderstorms.
00:38
We could even see some severe thunderstorms through some southern areas.
00:41
At the moment it's looking most likely that would be around the Scenic Rim and the Border
00:46
Ranges, but potentially could spread through other parts of southeastern Queensland through
00:50
the afternoon hours.
00:52
If those storms do develop, expect areas of heavy rain and damaging wind gusts.
00:57
Dry and sunny from around about Bundaberg northwards up the east coast.
01:02
Some very early showers across eastern NSW but clearing by around about 7am and becoming
01:07
a sunny hot day for most of the state, and that will drive high fire dangers for many
01:12
areas and extreme fire dangers around the Illawarra Shoalhaven region.
01:17
Temperatures in Sydney could touch 30 degrees on Friday, possibly hotter than that in the
01:21
western suburbs.
01:23
Showers and storms are expected to return around northeastern NSW during Friday afternoon
01:28
with the possibility of severe storms bringing heavy rain, damaging wind or large hail to
01:33
the northern rivers and northern tablelands.
01:37
Into Victoria, gusty westerly winds and a few light showers anticipated across southern
01:42
parts of the state.
01:43
Any wet weather should clear up most places by around about early afternoon, maybe 3 or
01:48
4 o'clock before the last of those showers disappear off the map, but the gusty westerlies
01:53
will stick around and that keeps a bit of a cap on the temperatures.
01:55
So many places in southern Victoria just in the teens for Friday, however further north
02:01
the wind knot is strong and temperatures are fair bit warmer, low to mid 20s.
02:06
A real shift in conditions across Tasmania compared to earlier in the week when we had
02:10
those hot conditions in the high 20s.
02:13
On Friday we have a cold front crossing the state bringing some really blustery winds,
02:17
potentially 80 to 90 km an hour wind gusts expected in many places and that could drive
02:21
some elevated fire danger as well.
02:24
The front will also bring showers across the state, most persistent in the west, but a
02:28
spot of rain possible wherever you live in Tasmania tomorrow, particularly around the
02:32
middle of the day as that front passes.
02:35
Could even see some snow in the mountains above about 1000 metres.
02:38
All of that, the rain, the snow and the gusty winds will be easing off during Friday evening.
02:45
A weak front also for southern parts of South Australia, morning shower in Adelaide and
02:50
across the southeast as well, just a couple of millimetres here or there.
02:53
Away from that it is fine weather, dry weather throughout the day, not much wind in play
02:58
so a settled afternoon across SA with temperatures a few degrees cooler than usual.
03:04
We will see some rain developing in Western Australia on Friday, initially it's around
03:07
the west coast here including Perth but as the day progresses we'll see the falls push
03:12
inland across the Wheatbelt, into the southern interior and eventually down to the south
03:16
coast as well.
03:17
Widespread rainfall totals will not be large, 1-5mm for many areas and isolated spots could
03:23
see as much as 15mm.
03:26
If you live north of Geraldton, chances are you'll see another dry day, a little bit windy
03:30
and still fairly warm.
03:32
And across Australia's north, pretty much everyone is the chance of seeing a shower
03:36
or storm but no significant rainfall totals expected, we might see some isolated moderate
03:41
falls around the Kimberley.
03:43
Across the top end it continues to be very hot, temperatures in the low 40s for many
03:48
and just a low shower risk as well, including around Darwin and the Tiwi Islands.
03:53
To stay up to date with what's happening in your area, find your forecast on the Bureau
03:57
website and app.
03:58
Thank you for watching and have a great day.
