00:00Welcome back to another edition of Furniture Flip. We are bringing this outdated dresser into 2023.

00:05Step one, I'm using clean strip to remove the old finish. Brush it on, let it sit for 15 minutes.

00:09I did use the appropriate PPE. This is just my test strip. I just wanted to show you how

00:13easy the finish comes off. What a dream. I wiped it down with odorless mineral spirits

00:17to get the rest of the gunk off and then gave her a sand with 220. So satisfying.

00:21I wood filled and scuff sanded while my dad removed the base. We are going to lift this

00:26girly up and actually reuse all of that wood in the new base that we're going to build. I wanted

00:30to show you the difference between strippers. So I'm using QCS instead of clean strip on the drawer.

00:34This product is a little safer to work with, but in a head-to-head competition with clean strip,

00:38I think clean strip won because I had to do a little bit more sanding. We wrap the top to

00:42protect it from primer and paint. Oh, hand print on the booty. Don't mind me, just embarrassing

00:46myself on the internet. My dad is priming with bullseye 1, 2, 3. Look at that form. Get low,

00:50daddy-o. I touched up some spots that I missed the first time with wood filler. As you can see,

00:54it's bleeding through a little bit. We're going to fix that, but first let's deal with the grain.

00:57I wanted a smooth finish. We're mixing water and wood filler. I'm pushing a thin layer into the

01:02grain in multiple directions because I'm a child. I'm using my hand, but you should use a brush.

01:05My dad's using old scrap wood and the original base to build the new base. Reduce, reuse,

01:09recycle, bitches. Once the wood filler dried, I hand sanded and then used a compressor to get

01:13the dust out of the corners. I hit it over the top with Kills, which is an oil-based primer

01:17that's going to stop the bleeding from happening and keep my wood filler in place when I go to

01:21paint. Tell me what color you would have painted this dresser in the comments. Back to the base.

01:25Once my dad drilled some pocket holes, he's using the world's longest drill bit to drill pilot holes

01:29so the wood doesn't split when we drill it in. Since this is a triple dresser, we needed three

01:33support feet so we could support the weight of this thick and hefty girly girl. We secured the

01:39center beam with our big daddy clamp, finished drilling and gluing, and voila, you've got

01:43yourself a triple base. Now let's deal with these doors. I'm not gonna lie, it reminded me of

01:47cockroaches or like some weird pokemon character, so my dad cut with a bandsaw this chunk of wood

01:52so we could level out the inside of it. Glued it in, nailed it in, and then dad cut some dowels for

01:58us. Lots of dowels. Then we used an excessive amount of Loctite to glue in all these dowels

02:03and brad nailed over them. This looks like my dad when he puts ketchup on his hamburger. Just

02:07excessive. I went over all of my exposed wood with a tan wash to blend all the tones and we screwed

02:13in the new base by reusing the old wood blocks. And there you have it, this sophisticated black

02:18beauty of a dresser. Let's take a closer look, shall we? Pink color onyx by Benjamin Moore,

02:23updated hardware. Look at that fluted detail, shining bright like a diamond. So crisp and

02:28clean. What's in here? You might ask. More drawers with a little black touch on the top.
