Furniture Flips Tips & Tricks: use wood filler to fill in gaps or creases in your furniture for a professional and cohesive finish.  I prefer using wood filler over caulk because caulk tends to crack, could distort your paint color, and is more unforgiving.

00:00You're gonna want to see this furniture flip. I bought this at Habitat for Humanity.

00:03I wasn't gonna get it at first, but then an employee trying to convince me to buy it,

00:06leaned on it, and it fell over immediately because it only had three legs. And I thought

00:09it was hilarious. He helped me put it in my car. Thank you, kind sir. I wanted to have a

00:12little fun with this one. Get a little crazy, a crazy girl. So we're using these wood sticks.

00:17First, I had to line up the sides of the cabinet doors to make sure they were even,

00:21because we're going to be making some geometry happen, some mathematics. So we adjusted the

00:24cabinet doors, and my dad is cutting the slats into even thinner pieces. And he's using a push

00:29block so he doesn't slice his fingies. Safety first! And now it's design time. So we started

00:34with this diamond pattern. My dad's laying on some Loctite. We're using miter shears to cut

00:38each slat. Highly recommend these if you're a DIY-er. We sanded each edge with 220 grit,

00:42and brad nailed over the Loctite just to make sure everything was secure. And then we just

00:45kind of played with the pattern. So enjoy this very satisfying time lapse of us putting together

00:51this geometric beauty. Wow, I bet you're wondering, oh, how'd you do that? Okay, fine,

00:55I'll tell you. We found the center of each door, then laid each slat down, found where it would sit

01:00flush with the edge of the door, and then snipped the excess at a 45 degree angle to create this

01:05diamond. And we used a piece of wood for a spacer to keep everything even. Then we wood filled and

01:10sanded it down smooth. My dad, out of these gold legs, he used a scrap piece of wood and used pocket

01:14holes to screw it into the base. Keep your scrap wood if you can, it always comes in handy. We

01:18primed with Bullseye 123, and as you can see, there was some bleed throughs with the glue,

01:23so we sealed that in with Kills primer. Just a little one-two over the top, and then we

01:27sprayed in Keratin Beige by Benjamin Moore. And there you have it, folks. She is stunning.
