00:00When it comes to making a decision where I have to spend money, it will take me 3 to 365 business days to make a decision.

00:04First, I need to overanalyze every possible option and change my mind at least 7 times.

00:08And second, once I decide, I will search the entire internet to find the lowest price possible.

00:11Yes, I will spend weeks of research to save $5 and no amount of logic you use on me will convince me that I'm crazy.

00:15I finally decided I wanted these chairs for my kitchen table.

00:17But these businesses are out here playing games.

00:19But I don't get got, I go get.

00:21Welcome to this episode of dupe to recoup the money I would have spent.

00:23Where I dupe overpriced furniture and don't give my money to billion-dollar corporations.

00:27And I'm gonna show you how to do it in case you wanna do it too.

00:29First step is removing years of booty juices.

00:31Whenever you're repainting furniture, you need to remove any grease, grime, and debris.

00:34And that includes swamp ass.

00:35While you're cleaning, you wanna look for any defects.

00:37For example, we're missing a wooden plug here.

00:38You could buy a replacement or make one.

00:40Or see if your dad has any lying around.

00:42I don't know if I'll have any.

00:43Now just take a little glue and a little bop bop bop.

00:45And it's good as new.

00:46On to sanding.

00:47Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

00:49You don't need a fancy sander to sand but I 100% do.

00:52I'd rather sit on the floor for the rest of my life than hand sand a chair.

00:55I mean just having to hand sand these little details I highly considered purchasing the chairs from the big box stores.

00:59But alas, I persevered.

01:00Now that every single surface has been scuff sanded, it's time to remove the dust.

01:03There are many ways to do that but when you're dealing with a lot of crevices, I prefer to use an air compressor.

01:07That is what I'm not wrestling with the hose.

01:13I did eventually get it.

01:14Once it's dust free, it's prime time!

01:24And now we can fill in any dents and dings.

01:25I guess you could skip this step, but I didn't say I didn't want big box furniture.

01:29I said I didn't want big box prices.

01:30I still want it to look brand new.

01:31And just because I basically DIY'd everything in my house, doesn't mean I want you to know

01:35it's all DIY'd.

01:36So we'll also be filling in the wood grain.

01:37I want these chairs looking fresh out the factory.

01:39You can water down your wood filler to do this, but I prefer mixing my own.

01:42That way I can be precise with my measurements.

01:43So you want that much powder.

01:44Follow me.

01:45We're going to the sink.

01:46Come on.

01:47And then you want to put about that much water in it.

01:48Yep.

01:49Perfect.

01:50Did you get that?

01:51And then stir it up until it's about the consistency of natural peanut butter.

01:53Not that I buy that kind.

01:54You're crazy if you think I'm paying extra for peanut butter I have to mix myself.

01:57And then push it into the wood grain.

01:58Thankfully I didn't have to grain fill the whole chair.

02:00Just the spindles, which arguably is the worst.

02:02And I was covered head to toe in dust.

02:03Now all that's left is one more coat of primer and two coats of paint and I can officially

02:07sit at my kitchen table.

02:08Wow.

02:09I almost forgot to tell you that I bought these chairs from Habitat for Humanity for

02:12$20 each.

02:13I already had all the supplies on hand and according to Girl Math, that's free.

02:15So really it only cost me $40.

02:17Well $43.

02:18Because ironically the US government allows double taxation.
