Damaging storms with heavy rain and possible hail across parts of Victoria and NSW

00:00Hello, Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday the

00:0410th of September, although we will take a quick look at this afternoon's forecast

00:09as well. It is going to be broadly settled across southern parts of the country, just

00:13a few showers in the southeast, but a little bit further north we are expecting showers

00:17and thunderstorms across northeast New South Wales and southeast Queensland. Now storms

00:22in those areas may produce damaging wind gusts, large hail or locally heavy falls in that

00:28small pocket of the country, so definitely one to watch out for through the course of

00:32this afternoon. Now those storms will ease back overnight tonight, but we are likely

00:38to see them redeveloping through Tuesday, particularly during the afternoon and evening

00:43period. We may see that unsettled weather reaching as far north as Brisbane with that

00:47chance of storms continuing. Fairly settled elsewhere across eastern Australia tomorrow

00:52though, morning fogs and partly cloudy days on the way, but over in the west we've got

00:56these troughs of low pressure moving through, which are likely to generate areas of cloud,

01:02showers and possible thunderstorms for parts of inland Western Australia and western South

01:07Australia on our Tuesday. Let's take a quick trip around the country now to break down

01:12tomorrow's forecast. For Queensland, morning fogs along the east coast with a few showers

01:17following in parts, mainly about the north tropical coast and across the southeast with

01:22that activity that I mentioned earlier. Brisbane could see a few showers for our Tuesday, but

01:26heading for a top of 26 degrees. Inland, it'll be drier and warmer with more sunshine on

01:31the way. For New South Wales, we're going to see morning fogs in the southeast, but

01:36dry and mostly sunny conditions following, with that chance of showers and thunderstorms

01:41persisting across the far northeast of the state. Sydney is heading for a dry, sunny

01:46top of 22 degrees tomorrow. Canberra, sunny conditions and a top of 20. Down in Victoria,

01:52we'll see morning fogs inland, but generally dry conditions throughout the day, partly

01:56cloudy in the south, mostly sunny conditions across to the north of the ranges, I should

02:01say. 20 degrees is the forecast for Melbourne tomorrow, hopefully a bit of sunshine through

02:05the afternoon. For Tasmania, we're still seeing flood warnings in place for a number of catchments,

02:11but the good news is tomorrow is not likely to bring as much rainfall as what we've seen

02:15last week. A few showers on the way for the western parts of the state, but fairly dry

02:19through central and eastern areas. Hobart heading for a partly cloudy top of 17 degrees.

02:24Over in South Australia, morning fogs through the southeast with a few showers easing, otherwise

02:30a dry and mostly sunny day. But further to the northwest, we have that risk of showers

02:34and isolated thunderstorms developing later on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Adelaide

02:40heading for a top of 21 degrees, dry and partly cloudy. For Western Australia, those

02:45troughs moving across inland parts of the state will generate some showers and possible

02:50storms, mostly for the southern interior and parts of the Gascoyne and Goldfields districts.

02:55Not too much is expected to reach the ground though, but we may have that lightning through

02:59the afternoon. A few showers about southern coastal districts as well, but shouldn't push

03:03as far north as Perth, which is looking at a partly cloudy top of 23 degrees for our

03:09Finally, for the northern territory, we are expecting dry conditions across the north

03:13of the state, certainly Darwin heading for a top of 35 degrees tomorrow with a bit of

03:16a drier afternoon on the way. We may however see cloud and a few showers building across

03:22the Lassiter in the far south however, as those troughs approach from Western Australia.
