00:00There is an urgent need for the government and businesses to reassess and strengthen
00:06their digital security protocols.
00:09This is what transport consultant Wan Agil Wan Hassan said after Prasarana Malaysia Perhat's
00:14internal systems were breached, resulting in around 316GB of its data being compromised.
00:20He praised Prasarana for acting swiftly to secure its systems, but said the breach exposed
00:25deep-rooted vulnerabilities that must be addressed.
00:28Wan Agil also said the national approach that focuses on damage control rather than
00:32prevention is not keeping up with the cybersecurity threats today.
00:35He said agencies like Cybersecurity Malaysia and the National Cybersecurity Agency need
00:41to have clear mandates, the authority to act, and the resources to make real changes.
00:46Wan Agil said maintaining a reactive stance on cybersecurity has repeatedly left sensitive
00:51data at risk.
00:53In 2017, the personal data of over 46 million mobile phone service subscribers were leaked
00:58on the dark web.
