00:00Former Law Minister Zayed Ibrahim and two others are seeking to overturn a High Court decision,

00:07dismissing their libel suit against the Malaysian Bar and its former president

00:11over statements concerning their conduct in Najib Razak's final SRC international appeal.

00:17Lawyers Liu Tekhwad and Ruben Matyavaranem, the co-appellants,

00:22confirmed that the notice of appeal was filed well ahead of its 30-day deadline.

00:26The appeal is from a ruling delivered by Justice Rose Mawarozain on May 29.

00:32Matyavaranem said they are now preparing the Memorandum of Appeal for the Court of Appeal

00:37to state where the trial judge erred, which would be filed by August 28.

00:42On September 30, 2022, the lawyers sued then-Bar President Karen Chia for her statement

00:47titled Abuse of Process Brings Disrepute to Our Justice System.

00:51The plaintiffs contended that Chia's remarks implied that the three lawyers had undermined the justice system

00:57through unscrupulous strategies.
