00:00 KK Mart has sued Xinjiang Chang Sindiran Berhad for allegedly sabotaging the convenience store

00:07 chain's business by supplying them with socks bearing the word "Allah."

00:12 When contacted by FMT, lawyer David Gurupadham confirmed that the suit had been filed with

00:17 Xinjiang Chang and its owner So Chin Hua named as defendants.

00:21 According to the statement of claim, KK Mart said the defendants had caused sabotage of

00:25 its lawful business, also claiming that the vendor's purpose was to tarnish KK Mart's

00:30 reputation ahead of a proposed listing through an initial public offering.

00:35 KK Mart said it had applied for Xinjiang Chang to supply arm covers on a consignment basis

00:39 and that there was no permission or agreement on the display or sale of any kind of socks.

00:45 It said the supplier's alleged sabotage has led to a public boycott, hate messages

00:49 against KK Mart, threats of violence, and negative social media comments, which led

00:53 to irretrievable harm, loss, and damage.

00:57 KK Mart is seeking more than 32 million ringgit in damages from Xinjiang Chang, including

01:01 more than 20 million ringgit lost from the aborted IPO and 10.5 million ringgit for the

01:06 damage caused to its brand.

01:09 It also wants 1.5 million ringgit for every week from the date of the judgment on the

01:13 suit for losses of profits in its business.
