6 in 10 parents worried about household bills going up during school holidays

00:11A study of 1,000 mums and dads with children aged between 13 and 17 shows that parents

00:15estimate an increase in the likes of energy and water bills, with an additional four loads

00:19of washing to be done each week compared to term time.

00:23Dishwashers could be turned on an extra three times on top of the usual amount, with ovens

00:27switched on for four more occasions.

00:29But parents might not need to worry, as 65 per cent of the 1,000 teenagers also polled

00:34claim to be keen on becoming more energy savvy during the school break.

00:37The study also found 82 per cent of green-agers believe it's important to be environmentally

00:42friendly and waste less energy at home.

00:45As a result, 33 per cent will actively be looking to reduce their energy waste at home

00:49during the summer.
