00:00On Wednesday, the Old Bailey found Marcus Ardouni Monzo guilty of killing 14-year-old Daniel
00:08and Jorin.
00:09And on Friday, he was finally sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 40 years.
00:16Witnesses described how Monzo virtually decapitated Daniel during a 20-minute spree, during which
00:24he also seriously wounded police officers, a pedestrian and a couple in their home as
00:31they slept with their young daughter nearby.
00:35This all happened in Hainault in northeast London on 30th April last year.
00:42Speaking outside the Old Bailey, Daniel's parents, Grace and Dr Ebenezer Andurin, said
00:50this has been a painful and traumatic chatter in our lives, adding that no verdict or sentence
00:57would bring back their son, Daniel, who they loved so dearly.
01:02Dr Andurin said he could not begin to describe the pain and anguish the family felt at losing
01:09Daniel, who was academically gifted and enjoyed sports and music.
01:14Giving evidence at his trial, Monzo said he had no memory of what's happened.
01:21The life sentence I must impose for the murder of Daniel Andurin will also have a minimum term
01:27that you must serve before the parole board can consider whether it's safe to release you
01:31on licence.
01:33They may decide that time will never come in your case.
01:39Nonetheless, I have to consider and impose that minimum term.
