A sword attacker has been jailed for at least 40 years for the “wicked” murder of schoolboy Daniel Anjorin during a 20-minute rampage. Marcus Monzo, 37, fatally slashed Daniel with a samurai sword minutes after the 14-year-old left his home in Hainault, east London, on April 30 last year. Mr Justice Bennathan jailed Monzo for life with a minimum term of 40 years for murder and attacking three more members of the public and two police officers. Report by Covellm. 00:00On the basis that a person who had committed all the dreadful offences of the 30th of April last year would attract a minimum term of the order of 50 years,
00:09I reduce the term I impose on you by a fifth, to recognise your mental ill health and previous good character to 40 years.
00:20From that I have to deduct the number of days already served.
00:24Therefore, the sentence I pass for count two, the murder of Daniel Andrewan, is life imprisonment with a minimum term of 38 years and 309 days.
00:38Mr Monzo can go now. Thank you, gentlemen.
