00:00The Old Bailey found Marcus Ardouni Monzo guilty of killing 14-year-old Daniel and Jiren
00:07with a samurai sword in Hainault in North East London last April,
00:13during what can only be described as an absolutely horrific 20-minute spree.
00:19He also seriously wounded police officers, a pedestrian,
00:24and a couple in their home as their daughter slept nearby.
00:30Witnesses described the former Amazon delivery driver screaming, quote-unquote,
00:37in delight and smiling after what was described as virtually decapitating Daniel,
00:45who had been walking to school in his PE kit.
00:49Monzo had also killed and skinned his pet cat before he ran amok, armed with two swords.
00:57Giving evidence at his trial, he said he had no memory of what happened
01:02and claims his mental state had diminished his responsibility for the crimes.
01:10However, the prosecution argued that psychosis brought on by self-induced intoxication
01:17was no defence for murder.
01:20Monzo, who showed no emotion as the verdicts were read out,
01:26previously admitted having the samurai sword used to kill Daniel
01:32and a katana sword found in his van.
01:35Daniel's parents had sat in court throughout the trial
01:39when the harrowing CCTV and police body-worn video had been played.
01:44So it's the same case as the police said that he was,
01:59what's the truth of that?
02:01No, it's not that.
