Your guide to summer 2024 in Liverpool

00:00Liverpool welcomes more than 30 million visitors to the city each year and it's
00:05not hard to see why. Home to stunning architecture, fantastic green spaces,
00:09unbeatable culture and the locals offering up a famously warm welcome. With
00:14this in mind we've put together a guide to the very best the city has to offer
00:18this summer. There's no shortage of green spaces in Liverpool. If I had to pick my
00:23favourite it'd have to be Sefton Park. The 200 acre site holds coveted green
00:28flag status and with the lake, cafes, tennis courts, playground and of course
00:32the palm house you can spend hours here. Possibly less well known to visitors is
00:37Croxteth Park which boasts woodland, a farm, Victorian walled gardens plus the
00:43recently restored miniature railway. If the weather's not in your favour and
00:47let's face it we can't always rely on it being pleasant even in the summer. All
00:51National Museums Liverpool venues are free to enter. Discover objects from
00:55around the globe, explore outer space and meet live creatures at the World
00:59Museum. Beautiful paintings, sculpture and decorative art are on display at the
01:03Walker Art Gallery which is almost next door. We're a city with not one but two
01:08cathedrals bookending Hope Street. This year Liverpool Cathedral celebrates its
01:12100th anniversary. They're marking the occasion with a unique exhibition by the
01:17legendary British Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor. The exhibition opens to the
01:21public on Saturday 10th of August and runs until Sunday 15th of September.
01:25On a sunny day there's not many things better than getting some sand in between
01:29your toes. For almost two decades Anthony Gormley's Another Place has looked out
01:33from Crosby Beach consisting of 100 cast iron figures nicknamed the Iron Men by
01:38locals. A rich maritime history runs through the city and there's a place
01:43next to the Mersey which encapsulates the city better than any other.
01:47Liverpool's Royal Albert Dock has a special place in our hearts and it's
01:50easy to see why. Plus just a short walk away is the Pier Head, home to the
01:55Three Graces and where you can hop on the ferry across the Mersey.
