00:2454-year-old Hunter Biden was found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm.

00:30The president's son was accused of lying about his crack cocaine use on a clearance form

00:36Hunter's drug problems are well documented.

00:39The prosecution presented as evidence photos of him with drug paraphernalia

00:44as well as compromising text messages.

00:47Well I'm sure it's very sad for his family and sad for Hunter Biden.

00:53Um many people have no individuals who have suffered from addiction

00:58and I think people can understand that.

01:01On the other hand I think it is a good day for the rule of law and our institutions are strong.

01:07Republicans have been quick to make political capital of the case.

01:11Donald Trump and his cohorts have long sought to tie Hunter's legal problems to his father.

01:17Today is the first step in delivering accountability for the Biden crime family.

01:21We must and we will continue as House Republicans to investigate the Biden crime family.

01:27The Trump campaign called the trial a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden crime family.

01:32Joe Biden himself has used his son's trial to call for greater regulation of firearms purchases.

01:38It's the first time a child of a sitting US president has received a criminal conviction.

01:43Hunter Biden can still appeal but faces up to 25 years in prison.
