Manchester City spark interest in Bruno Guimaraes this summer

00:00Onto the summer for Manchester City now. It's always quite interesting how they go about

00:07their transfer business. What's the latest? Can you tell us any sort of rumours emerging

00:12ahead of the summer window?

00:14Lots of whispers, lots of reports, lots of players being linked. The one name I've heard

00:22very firmly is Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle. He's a player the City are definitely interested

00:26in. He has this £100m release clause in his contract that applies to the end of June.

00:33I don't think that City, I put it like this, they're pretty reluctant to pay that figure.

00:39I think they feel that it's just a fee that they don't want to match and that they have

00:44other targets as well that they will look at if Newcastle wouldn't potentially accept

00:49a lower offer. I don't think there's been a huge amount of dialogue on it so far but

00:55he's definitely a player the City like. I think he's probably also seen as a player

00:59who's more similar to Ilkay Gundogan, a player that City lost last summer. They did bring

01:03in two midfielders in Mateo Kovacic and Mateus Nunes but neither of them I don't think they're

01:10seen as like-for-like replacements. So we'll have to see in that one. Lucas Paqueta was

01:15a big player that they were interested in but that's not going to happen now. He's had

01:21these charges brought against him by the FA in terms of betting, charges he denies.

01:26So we'll have to see in that one. But I think regardless of what the outcome is in that

01:30one, I think City have just completely walked away from that transfer. It's just simply

01:33not going to happen now. And in terms of players leaving, I think that, I mean, Bernardo Silva

01:40is a big one who potentially could move on. I mean, Pep Guardiola was even asked questions

01:45about it this week in a press conference ahead of a charity golf tournament. I think that

01:51Gioacchino, Calvin Phillips are probably players who can move on. I know we're going

01:55to talk about Ederson in a minute. Ederson is a player that I think there's a chance

01:58as well he could move on. And then you've got Kevin De Bruyne who's kind of openly kind

02:03of courting offers from Saudi Arabia at this stage. I think that, I mean, City, a City

02:09source told me that they described that dynamic as quite comfortable with each other, De Bruyne

02:15and the club. Obviously he's been there so long as well and the relationship and the

02:19trust is built up there. He is 33 at the end of this month. So I think he, you know,

02:24I think the reality is we are certainly in the latter stages of De Bruyne's Manchester

02:28City career. I have a sneaking suspicion he will stay this summer. That's more of a hunch

02:33based on anything I've heard. And then there's Jack Grealish who's obviously had a really

02:38difficult week or so being left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate. He's had

02:44a really difficult season, I would say. Certainly the end of the campaign where he didn't play

02:49a minute in any of City's last four games. I think that that's a transfer that is possible.

02:57I think the big issue with that would potentially be finding a buyer for Grealish. But yeah,

03:01I think there's plenty of players who could leave the club this summer. But the big name

03:06that I'm hearing that City are interested in is Bruno Guitmiresh.
