00:00Singapore Airlines has sent offers of compensation to passengers on board a flight last month

00:15In a statement, the airline said passengers with minor injuries have been offered US$10,000

00:20and those with serious injuries can discuss an offer to meet their specific needs.

00:25It added that passengers who are medically assessed as having sustained serious injuries

00:29requiring long-term medical care and requesting financial assistance are offered an advanced

00:34payment of US$25,000 to address their immediate needs.

00:39A 73-year-old passenger died of a suspected heart attack and dozens were injured after

00:43flight SQ321 from London to Singapore encountered what the airline described as sudden extreme

00:49turbulence while flying over Myanmar.

00:52Passengers said that during the turbulence, the crew and those not strapped in were slammed

00:56into the cabin ceiling, causing it to crack in places.

01:00A preliminary report by Singapore's transport ministry said a rapid change in gravitational

01:04force and a 54-metre altitude drop likely caused passengers and crew to become airborne.
