00:00Activist Fahmy Reza has issued a letter of demand to the authorities after being prevented from traveling abroad recently, despite having no official travel ban in place.
00:13The letter, dated June 13, was addressed to Inspector General of Police Razaruddin Hussein, Immigration Director General Zakaria Shaaban, and Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
00:27Fahmy's lawyer, Yohendra Nadarajan, said the graphic artist was stopped at KLIA Terminal 2 on June 7 while trying to board a flight to Singapore.
00:38Immigration officials at the airport have reportedly told Fahmy to check with Bukit Aman on the travel restriction.
00:46The next day, Razaruddin was reported as saying there was no travel ban on Fahmy but that his name had been placed on an internal movement monitoring list for investigation purposes.
00:58Yohendra said there is no basis under the law for Fahmy to be added to such a list.
01:04Fahmy is demanding the removal of his name from all monitoring lists, the lifting of any travel restrictions, and compensation, with the amount to be determined.
01:17Gihanna said there is no travel ban on Fahmy to be added to the public.
