First look at Taylor Swift trail art installations in Liverpool city centre

Liverpool has revealed its bespoke "Taylor Town Trail" ahead of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour arriving in the city.

00:00Liverpool has revealed its bespoke Taylor Town Trail, head of Taylor Swift's

00:05The Era's Tour, arriving in the city from June 13th to 15th. The city is turning

00:10itself into a week-long at Swiftie paradise to enjoy and explore.

00:14They set a precedent last year with Eurovision and there's no other city

00:17other than Liverpool that seems to do this. When something comes to town that

00:20everyone's excited about, jumping on board, getting everyone involved,

00:23especially the artists, it's amazing. I'm so proud to be from the city and I was

00:26really happy to be asked to do this. Content creator Abbey from Anfield is a

00:30self-confessed diehard Swiftie. It's just an extra exciting thing, especially for

00:35people coming to visit the city who aren't from Liverpool. It gives them

00:39opportunities to get like loads of really fun photos and obviously also

00:43discover the city whilst they're here for an event so it's so exciting and I'm

00:49just like it's gonna be so cute seeing everybody's pictures and their outfits

00:52at each of the art installations as well. The global superstar will play a hat

00:56trick of sold-out shows at Liverpool FC's Anfield Stadium and the city's

01:00rolling out the red carpet for her fans, having tailored an artist-led

01:04installation trail inspired by her record-breaking back catalogue of hits.

01:08Yes, so when I was asked to make a piece for TaylorTown, I was asked to listen

01:12to the Tortured Poets Department album and as soon as I started listening to it I

01:16could feel like the tragic love, the vintage kind of aesthetic. Taylor's been

01:20seen in these big manuscript dresses and I just thought this is a time for like

01:23paper and words and all different images and that's kind of where it

01:27started to emerge from. So the original is much smaller and all hand-cut and so

01:31I just started playing with the lyrics in the songs and the images just started

01:35kind of coming together. Rachel Smith-Evans of Quirky Design Co's helped

01:38lead the project management but we wanted to know which installation she

01:41was most proud of. I think it's gotta be the piano, yeah. So I've painted a lot of

01:46installations that were designed by other makers so I've been like the

01:49painter but this one was just mine so I was really proud of this one. It took me

01:54three weeks, three weeks to do and it's all made from real moss. The piano was

01:59sourced on Facebook marketplace so yeah. Culture Liverpool has enlisted the help

02:03of social enterprise Make CIC and their team of makers to create a unique

02:08Instagrammable experience based around 11 art installations to entertain the

02:13100,000 plus Swifties who will be travelling to the city from across the world.

02:18We're known for our hospitality, our warm welcome and also our

02:22reputation as a music city so it just lends itself perfectly to Taylor.

02:28On the back of everything we achieved with Eurovision last year it just made

02:31total sense that Taylor coming to the city was such a huge opportunity for us.

02:35Kudos to LFC for getting Taylor to come here. The only

02:40city she's doing in England outside of London. It just made total sense

02:44really for us to celebrate that in typical Liverpool fashion and ensure

02:48that all of our community, our artists and makers and also all of our

02:53shops, restaurants, they all feel the benefit as well. The Taylor Town Trail

02:57will run until Sunday 16th of June.
