Bomba aiming to fill 1,483 vacancies nationwide

The Fire and Rescue Department is hoping to fill some 1,483 vacancies nationwide to improve response times and increase the number of personnel deployed at stations.  Director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad said at the moment, about 500 trainees were undergoing training around the country.  He told reporters after presenting service awards to 175 firemen and auxiliary firefighters in Johor Baru on Monday (April 29). 00:00 I take this opportunity to announce two main things.

00:04 First, in connection with the approval of the responsibilities given by the JPA

00:12 for the filling of responsibilities to the Bomba and Jawa Malaysia.

00:15 For myself and the entire committee, we would like to thank you for your concern.

00:22 For your information, at present we have 14,750 full-time Bomba officers.

00:32 From that number, the vacancy is 1483 or 10.05% in Malaysia.

00:41 That means our filling is 13,265 people.

00:46 And Alhamdulillah, at this new position, we have made the recruitment process,

00:52 which is a total of 276 employees.

00:56 From the total number of positions given, it is 298 positions.

01:01 But we have put some of it for filling for other grade positions in the office.

01:07 That means grade N, grade F, grade J.

01:11 So for the Bomba members, there are 276 trainees.

01:16 And InsyaAllah, in this first phase, we will make the recruitment process.

01:19 Meanwhile, in the second phase, we will accept the latest recruitment for the additional filling

01:24 of 233 trainees or other Bomba officers.

01:29 So in total, 276 plus 2233 is our filling to fill some of the vacancy of 1483 that I mentioned.

01:40 So for this recruitment, there will be four positions that we have planned.

01:44 The first one that has been included this week is the position for the KB29 grade,

01:49 a total of 29 trainees.

01:51 Then we expect there will be a position for the grade 41 and 29.

02:03 And finally, we will fill the rest of the 233 positions for the grade 19.

02:09 I am informed that in Johor, there are 130 vacancies.

02:13 That means it is not much different from the national average, more or less 10%.

02:17 And when we get this approval, InsyaAllah, we will give a pass to the main countries

02:24 such as Johor, Kuala Lumpur and also Selangor for increasing this filling percentage

02:32 because these three countries record our significant incidents.

02:38 You mentioned that there are vacancies in Bomba 1483.

02:41 Is it affecting operations, fire stations, main power Taju Koko and many fire stations?

02:48 To function ideally, there will be an effect.

02:51 It means it will affect our ideal operations.

02:55 It means we cannot have any vacancy whatsoever.

03:00 We have to plan it properly.

03:02 Ideally, we try to have not more than 5% vacancy.

03:10 Currently, we have a 10% vacancy.

03:13 So, it is high.

03:14 It does not affect our operations.

03:16 Alternatively, we also look at how we reduce the turnover of the PBB.

03:30 Because we face a problem with the PBB.

03:32 The turnover is quite high.

03:34 Because when we take it, it is already beautiful.

03:36 Then, we go for an interview.

03:38 The private sector also likes to take it.

03:40 Then, the government and other agencies also take it because of the quality they have.

03:44 So, we also see that the high turnover gives an effect to our operations.

03:53 So, our plan now is how we reduce the turnover

03:57 or we have to schedule more PBBs to help the PBB.

04:05 How many fire stations nationwide at the moment?

04:08 3, 3, 8.

04:10 And how many more in the future?

04:17 I don't want to say that.

04:18 Because if I announce it, it will be painful.

04:22 But in the next row, there will be another 10.

04:25 But you need the manpower to fill up the vacancies?
