00:00 Hello, I am Gideon and today I'm going to be talking about the financial climate and how it

00:04 affects young people. I'm going to be speaking about my experience and overall just addressing

00:10 people's concerns. So I grew up in and around Preston, I went to university in Preston, I also

00:16 went to a university in Blackpool, so I thought who better to ask than the people from the northwest

00:22 of Lancashire and get their take on this. So the number one complaint across the board was housing.

00:27 Many people are worried about owning a house one day, which is obviously very understandable given

00:34 the current climate that we're in. With obviously rent going up, mortgages going up, it seems

00:39 unrealistic for most people, especially young people, because it's going to affect us more.

00:44 If you're a self-provider like myself, how is this financially going to be possible unless

00:49 something changes? So other concerns consisted of daily expenses, pressure to socialise,

00:55 inflammation and higher taxes overall. People are struggling, especially the young people,

01:01 because if you do not have a second source of income, you don't have parents who can necessarily

01:07 provide for you, how are you expected to essentially live your life? It almost feels

01:13 that we don't have a voice, we don't have someone in our corner defending our argument and the sad

01:19 reality is, we're the people who are going to have to pick up the pieces, we're going to have to clean

01:24 up the mess once they've all been and gone. If you ask a person from the 70s, 80s when they

01:30 purchased their house, the price back then and the price now are completely different. It just seems

01:36 like we've jumped from A to Z and missed out all the letters in between. It just doesn't seem fair

01:45 and so action is definitely needed and hopefully this is a step in the right direction and inspires

01:51 more people to speak about their struggles, issues and overall what can we do hopefully

01:58 find a solution. I'm going to speak about my own experiences with it so make sure to read the article.
