00:00it's been a long time coming but we're finally here and and what a result yeah it's um been a
00:05three-year project um from when we started in nine in 2022 to now but we're kind of really pleased
00:13that we've kind of restored burn this jewel and it really is a jewel it's really been given a good
00:19polishing hasn't it yeah and we've changed things you know restoring the great hall to its original
00:24color scheme and but the most important thing is that we've done the really important work on
00:31replacing the roofs changing the guttering system so that we can cope with higher rainfall levels
00:37doing all the work that's needed to secure the building and its fabric for the next generation
00:43or two i mean you only have to drive up and you can see that even the outside of the building looks
00:50reinvigorated and and inviting and then you walk into this wonderful hall and the color the detail
00:59the care that has been done i mean it's truly astounding do you think your ancestors would
01:05have been proud i think charles the collector would have been absolutely delighted and actually if he
01:12were here now i mean i think we would have said you know look at your hall bring the collection back from
01:17the british museum and speaking of charles finally the other uh famous charles who got a mention
01:23today by the lord lieutenant uh i think he would have he'd probably be quite happy with what's been
01:28done i think yes i'm sure he'll be very interested to hear that uh such work has been undertaken
01:34by borough council i mean it's no mean feat you know in these in these straightened times um to actually
01:40make that very brave decision and to have done it with such care i mean it puts um hs2 to shame doesn't it
01:47and we got nearly a million pounds of grant from the arts council which we're really grateful for
01:53um and we're really pleased that the project finished you know pretty much on time and you
01:58know on budget which is really good and they're just just looking forward to welcoming the the
02:02burnley public back into through the doors yeah so we've got a few exhibitions to put back together
02:08um but two weeks today we're opening to the public and that's what it's about it's burnley people's
02:17building and getting it back in use for people to come and enjoy is what it's all about
