Elizabeth Wheeler - Schubert's Serenade (1909)

"Ständchen" is by Franz Schubert

We hear modified bits of "Schubert's Serenade" or "Ständchen" in the Succession TV series.

The beginning of Schubert's "Ständchen" sounds like the haunting Succession theme written by Nicholas Brittell. I think "Adante in C Minor" is the title for that music on the Succession soundtrack.

Schubert's music is in the public domain, so it's OK if Succession uses it, whether as written by Schubert or modified. It's a creative use of a familiar tune. It's allowed.

Succession goes C minor, A flat, F minor 6, G.

Schubert is C minor, F minor, F minor 6, G.

Transpose that Schubert piece into other keys and you may hear the resemblance clearer than ever.
