Indeed, this was a searing indictment of Vladimir Putin by Volodymyr Zelensky.
00:06
He used all those expressions and challenged those in the room and essentially the Western
00:12
world asking them, well, if you want to still live in a rules-based world, you have to defeat
00:18
Putin.
00:19
And he says, instead of asking when the war in Ukraine will end, ask yourself why Vladimir
00:26
Putin is still able to conduct that very war.
00:30
He thanked the German Chancellor, the French President, for just signing a bilateral security
00:37
agreement in the previous days, as the one that was signed with the UK several weeks
00:44
ago.
00:45
He said that Ukraine was doing its utmost 724 days of resistance to Ukraine.
00:50
He said that, to Russia, I'm sorry, he said that this has broken the myth that Ukraine
00:55
doesn't exist as a country, that Russia's military is all-powerful and that Europe was
01:01
weak and unable to respond.
01:04
However, he said that this needs to continue because, again, an argument we've heard again
01:09
and again that this is not Ukraine's war, this is Europe's war.
01:12
And he also said that this concerns other parts of the world, Africa, Latin America,
01:18
Asia as well, because this was really a defining moment.
01:24
And he said that the struggle should continue.
01:25
Obviously, the support should continue.
01:28
He's hoping that, in addition to the security agreements I just mentioned with key European
01:32
countries, there will be much-needed support from Washington, namely that the House of
01:39
Representatives will take up and vote a bill that would fund and arm Ukraine.
01:45
This is seen as a key moment because this is seen as a symbol of whether the West still
01:50
believes that it needs to continue fighting for Ukraine or eventually push the Ukrainians
01:56
toward a negotiating table with Vladimir Putin.
01:59
With the death of Alexei Navalny, clearly Vladimir Zelensky told the West, well, know
02:06
who you're dealing with and don't force us to sit down with this man at the table.
02:11
This is not the right moment.
02:12
This is not the right person.
02:14
And this is now when the future needs to be defined.
02:17
Obviously, strong words.
02:18
But the reality is that on the front lines there is a stalemate.
02:23
And obviously, Ukraine was forced to withdraw from the town of Avdivka.
02:28
There was a long and terrible fight where tons of lives were lost on both sides.
02:35
Ukraine was forced to withdraw.
02:36
But Vladimir Zelensky is hoping that this is not the way the combat is going to happen
02:44
on the front lines.
02:46
This is only something that just happened and he's hoping to regain the momentum.
