Hi and welcome to another episode of Screenbabel Weekend Watch. I'm Stephen, National World's
00:05
Digital Trends Writer, and I'll be towing you through the best films and shows to watch
00:09
this week on streaming, TV and in cinemas. So to kick things off on Friday the 9th of
00:15
Feb, we have A Killer Paradox, which I discussed in the main podcast. I would recommend you
00:20
go back and have a listen if you haven't already. It's a Netflix South Korean serial killer
00:26
comedy which sounds a bit obscene ironic but it's genuinely worth checking out. It follows
00:31
a young man who accidentally murders a serial killer and the detective who pursues him relentlessly
00:37
as bodies begin to pile up. It's a bit twisty turny but it's very good. In cinemas on Friday
00:46
is Iron Claw, the sports biopic I guess. It's the true story of the Von Erich brothers who
00:54
made history in the competitive world of professional wrestling in the 1980s. Stars Zac Efron and
01:00
Jeremy Alan White among others and it's likely to be very popular. Then back to Netflix again
01:08
we have Love Stalker Killer. It's a twisty turny documentary. It follows a mechanic who
01:14
tries online dating for the first time and meets a woman who takes romantic obsession
01:19
to a deadly degree. That's also out on Friday. Friday is a very busy day in fact because
01:26
we also have Gassed Up, a movie coming to cinemas. It follows Ash, a man trying to raise
01:34
money for his 14-year-old sister and send his mother to rehab who gets caught up in
01:39
an organized crime ring led by a charismatic Albanian immigrant. On Amazon Prime again
01:48
on Friday we have Upgraded, a romantic comedy. It sounds like a sci-fi film. It is a rom-com.
01:55
It follows Anna who's upgraded to first class on a work trip where she, surprise, surprise,
02:01
meets handsome Will who mistakes her for her boss. The white lie that sets off a strange
02:10
chain of events and romance and opportunity ensue, I guess, until Anna's lie threatens
02:20
to tear it all apart. Then skipping ahead to Tuesday we have another Amazon Prime rom-com.
02:30
This one's Five Blind Dates. It follows a woman who's told by her fortune teller that
02:36
she'll meet the man of her dreams on one of the next five dates she goes on, but she's
02:40
not told which date that will be. She might have to kiss a few frogs before she meets
02:46
her prince. On Wednesday the 14th it is of course Valentine's Day. If you haven't bought
02:51
a present for your significant other, this is your reminder. You're welcome. We have
02:56
Players, a romantic comedy coming to Netflix. It follows New York sports writer Mac who
03:03
has created a various, her own form of the Barney Stinson playbook from How I Met Your
03:10
Mother. She's created her own version of this with her friends, but when she unexpectedly
03:14
falls for one of her targets, she realizes that she's going to need more than these simple
03:18
hookup tricks to have a successful relationship. Again on Wednesday we have Bob Marley, One
03:29
Love coming to cinemas, probably a good Valentine's Day date. It follows the story of the reggae
03:34
icon Bob Marley and how he came adversity on his journey to revolutionary music stardom
03:42
in the reggae genre. Then lastly we have The New Look coming to Apple TV. This 10-part
03:49
drama follows Christian Dior as a useps, Coco Chanel, in the years after the Second World
03:56
War. The first three episodes come to Apple TV on the 14th and then the remaining seven
04:02
episodes come out on Wednesdays weekly. Well that's all from me. Thanks for listening and
04:07
join me again next week for more weekend watch recommendations. Thank you.
