00:03 The Carolina Panthers thought they had their elite quarterback when they drafted

00:06 Bryce Young.

00:07 That still is very much a question right now.

00:09 But Dave Canales, I think, maybe did the best offensive coordinator job of anybody

00:13 not named Ben Johnson this season and last season.

00:16 My gosh, Tampa Bay rode that offense really far this year,

00:20 almost basically to the NFC Championship.

00:22 And the Panthers are gonna make this move here.

00:25 Now again, I don't wanna be skeptical of hires here, Vinny.

00:30 But the Panthers are just continuing to hire and fire coaches.

00:33 And they just, in my opinion, fired a really good offensive coordinator.

00:37 So I guess here we go again is probably the best way to look at it.

00:41 And unfortunately for Canales, maybe unlike some other spots,

00:45 this owner just has no patience with the head coaches.

00:49 It's like a year or two and done.

00:50 I hope that they give him more time.

00:53 >> Yeah, he does need more time.

00:54 And I think what you're looking at is maybe the quick turnarounds that he had

00:58 with Gino Smith and Baker Mayfield.

00:59 No offense to those guys, but Bryce Young has much higher upside than those guys.

01:04 I mean, he's also not a veteran who's been through the ringer.

01:07 I mean, he's going into year two, so this is a reboot for him.

01:10 And Canales has been outstanding working with those guys.

01:13 And they're not exactly the same skill set, but

01:15 I think Bryce Young has some of those qualities, right?

01:18 He's smallish like Baker, but can move around, make plays.

01:21 Gino Smith, I think you saw him get more confident as a downfield passer.

01:25 So these are the things they wanna put together, mash up what he did in the other

01:29 two stops with those quarterbacks.

01:31 So that was the number one thing, who can fix the quarterback?

01:33 This guy has fixed two quarterbacks that we thought were done, right,

01:37 in the last two years.

01:38 So that's a great way to maybe approach it.

01:40 And then looking at it overall,

01:42 there's a little bit of relationship between him and Dan Morgan.

01:45 Going back to the Seahawks days,

01:47 this is a tapping into a successful tree with Pete Carroll.

01:50 So there's a lot of good things to like about this hire, and

01:54 we'll see where it goes.

01:55 But again, patience is key with the owner,

01:57 because you're not gonna get overnight results with this team.
