00:00way back at the end of uh may the philadelphia phillies were 36 and 19 i believe it was on may
00:0828th the mets were 34 and 22 the phills had a two and a half game advantage but then philly
00:14lost nine of its next 10 the mets went on an absolute heater winning 11 of their next 13
00:21and on june 12th had a five and a half game lead or a four and a half game advantage
00:27over the philadelphia phillies but then the mets started to stumble on that long slide the phillies
00:33started to play a lot better baseball they win the weekend and at the end of it it's philadelphia
00:38that emerges with a one game advantage atop the national league east and the minus 150 favorite
00:44are the fightings right now drs to win the divisional crown yeah looking good right now too and also
00:49doing most of this damage here without bryce harper which is the team mvp getting back sooner than later
00:53that offense starts to look even better alec bohm 290 now in the season trey turner still hitting 300
00:58a lot of guys really stepping up in the moments here and having key at bats without bryce harper
01:02but also understand this jesus lazardo has been really good and sometimes really bad this season
01:07he was phenomenal on sunday night baseball and if you're throwing david peterson out there he's been
01:11really good and they roughed him up for a couple runs there in the fifth inning in a way the phillies
01:15went to a seven to nothing lead in the events of a seven to one victory so for my money on this
01:20point now say this repeatedly the ebbs and flows of the major league baseball season the braves look
01:24like they're out of it having any contenders in the n at least we'll see if they might be able to
01:28fight for a wild card spot but the phillies and the new york mets will go back and forth all summer
01:31long one team goes up two games one another team goes up two games maybe three games apiece three
01:36games the other way you'll get used to that here but it's interesting the mets look like they were
01:39having a chance to run away with this thing before the all-star break and completely collapsed upon
01:44themselves they need to get back certainly the starting pitching's got to get a little bit better and the one
01:49thing we talk about with the mets too ben which is you don't have the front line starters that you
01:52say oh that's the guy i love like hey david peterson not necessarily a household name let's see if these
01:57guys can continue to pitch well because right now the end looks hey that train's coming down the tracks
02:02right now and it's getting closer for the mets they got to play better sooner than later
