Wales headlines 16 January: snow and ice warnings for North Wales

Almost three hundred thousand homes around Wales are currently at risk of flooding, which could rise to almost four hundred thousand over the coming decades. Natural resources Wales have warned that flood defences in some areas are unaffordable, but the Welsh government say that they are committed to tackling the problem.

A number of yellow weather warnings are in place across most of North Wales this week as the met office warn of possible disruptions. Three separate warnings, for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are in place, with travel being disrupted and dangerous conditions for drivers.

Caerphilly council could become the first in Wales to move to 4-weekly bin collections in an effort to cut costs. The council are exploring both 3 and 4 weekly collections, and say both could help the budget and recycling targets. Caerphilly is among the worst recyclers in Wales, at 60% of its waste being recycled.
