00:00 The 6th NG Award Ceremony is finally here, happening live at the Mazon Center on NICOR
00:09 Lagos and as always, several businesses, individuals, charities, public and private sector organizations
00:17 that help to make the internet a more secure, open, accessible and rewarding experience
00:23 for all will be given the honors they truly deserve.
00:27 Among the award categories for this year 2023 include Company of the Year, Most Innovative
00:33 Service Provider Online, Startup Company of the Year and several others.
00:38 The Guardian Nigeria was at the award ceremony and this was how it unfolded.
00:43 We are here to offer dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment of those who are
01:06 committed to the mission of the company and to the mission of the company.
01:28 How does it feel to win the award for the best e-commerce website?
01:32 I think it feels amazing, you know, for us to win the best e-commerce website, it means
01:37 we are really doing what we are meant to do.
01:39 It means we are really optimizing our customers, making them satisfied and making our website
01:44 very user friendly.
01:45 I think this is one of the things they saw that, you know, we did and how we are really
01:50 making use of the NG because I think that's one of the things this award was meant about.
01:56 We have to go through each category, screening them based on our set out criteria.
02:02 Not very easy, you have to tour the entire country, categories by category and knowing
02:08 who really deserve to be so recognized.
02:11 Alright, so how does it feel to win the award for the best fintech?
02:16 I think it feels great and overwhelming.
02:19 I guess I'm also appreciative to be honest because I think probably the most competitive
02:24 category tonight so it feels, I feel honored and we feel honored as a team to win it.
02:29 We had a lot of nominees and fintech is even a competitive space so to actually have an
02:34 award for standing out in a place people feel is crowded, I think it's something to be grateful
02:39 for.
02:40 You know, this country is so talented and we have a lot of people who are so gifted and
02:44 screening them to get out the best was just the, but we are able to cross it.
02:50 Ombakata from far north, which is considered to be educationally less developed was recognized
03:02 by Nira to be awarded the best designer for the institutional portal.
03:07 For us to be recognized among more than 200 universities that have all gone digital now.
03:13 What do you think these private individuals, companies and all of this can do to make sure
03:18 that there is a better user experience for the general public?
03:24 Well I think the first thing is for us to think of integration because it's a case whereby
03:32 just trying out things that does not show the real thing.
03:36 I'm glad you are from Guardian, you know, we have dunks everywhere but we want to put
03:41 that content over there, let it be what is real and it will help people to have a very
03:47 good experience, okay this is what it is.
03:49 Not picking things here and there without finding out whether it is okay or not and
03:54 just do a broadcast of it, it doesn't make any sense at all.
03:58 I think something that we are doing and we want to keep doing better is also to focus
04:04 more on financial education.
04:06 We have a lot of laboratories and we are even introducing a faculty of computing where we
04:10 have different areas of computer being taught right from MIS, ICT, digital economy, artificial
04:21 intelligence and many more.
04:24 Especially the tertiary institutions, we have gone paperless in terms of payment, in
04:28 terms of registration, in terms of virtually able to know.
04:31 With this motivation I'm very sure we are going to have a kind of path and this path
04:36 is going to move us forward to ensure that we have exported to even universities away
04:42 from the northern Nigeria but across the entire country.
04:46 Innovation would never stop, right, at Sterling.
04:48 We'll continue to learn and take those learnings to innovate our efforts and to innovate what
04:54 we are doing in the digital space.
04:59 The NG Award Ceremony has been put together to recognize several Nigerian internet initiatives
05:05 out there who put so much effort to make sure there is constant innovation in the Nigerian
05:10 internet space in order to make sure that these individuals and organizations are duly
05:14 celebrated and encouraged to do even better.
05:18 Stay tuned for more informative coverages like this from Guardian TV if Naya Wachiku
05:23 reports in.
