00:00Good morning, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, dear community, I remember
00:07since 2014 when I used to hear stories of Okwara attacking other villages and
00:15taking people away. People from neighboring blades fell to our blades for
00:21safety. We get hearing gunshot at night. They continued on to begin hearing rumors
00:31that they were going to take over our village. We tried to escape but it was too
00:38late. On a Sunday morning at precisely a.m. they attacked and captured our village. I
00:47was on my way to the farm when they took me away and possibly married me up to
00:55one of their members. After he was killed in an operation by the military, I was
01:01remarried to another member of the sect who was also killed. They, Voko Haram,
01:07remarried me again for the third time to another member. I was in captivity for 15
01:14months and lights were stopped throughout my captivity. After many failed attempts to escape,
01:26finally I was lucky to escape just when they were planning to send me on a suicide
01:34mission. One day someone told me about Alamine Foundation and Grassroots Research
01:42such as a situation activities. I started attending support session for women and
01:49girls who have also survived captivity. Other women and girls who had not
01:56experienced captivity were also part of this session. So they can understand what we
02:04had experienced. This session has had so much impact of me. It helped me overcome my
02:12fears which has helped me to talk about my experience to encourage others to
02:18overcome this. For a long time I felt unhappy. I was frustrated and withdrawn. I
02:28couldn't make friends because of my isolation. I want to prepare my education. I want to be a medical doctor.
02:37I want to light my future. I want to continue supporting survivors' growth.
02:43bless you.
02:45acceptance please.
