Wales headlines 20 September: No change to 20mph law despite record-breaking petition

A petition calling on the Welsh government to repeal their 20mph speed limit laws has reached over 275,000 signatures, a record for petitions in Wales. First Minister Mark Drakeford was asked whether the massive number of signatures would mean he would retract the decision, but said a resounding no.

Hundreds of properties across South and West Wales have been left without power after heavy storms caused flooding in some areas. Weather warnings had been in place until Wednesday evening, with up to 4 inches of rainfall in some areas. Police have warned of road closures across most of Wales.

Bridgend Council have said they can no longer fund 6.5 million pounds towards a green energy plant due to new budget pressures. HyBont, a planned hydrogen plant is set to provide power for council vehicles. The plans are fronted by a japanese firm who say they are still committed to the project.
