Glasgow headlines 30 August: Man jailed for killing lodger

A man in Glasgow has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for stabbing his lodger to death.

48-year-old Eduard Maslov attacked his victim at a flat in Parkhead in March 2021.

Maslov initially faced a murder allegation before he was convicted of culpable homicide.

Next up, Banksy’s Cut and Run exhibition at the GOMA may be over, but speculation has been raised that the street artist may have left Glasgow a parting gift.

Following the showcase’s closure, a new customised cone appeared on the Duke of Wellington statue, which Banksy had previously said was his favourite artwork in the UK.

His team are yet to confirm or deny responsibility.

And in other news, Museum workers under Glasgow Life are balloting for strike action in a dispute over job cuts.

The union said the company who are behind Kelvingrove and the Burrell Collection are planning to cut 30 percent of jobs in their venues.
