Texting while driving: driver using two phones jailed for killing man

A driver who killed a man soon after using two mobile phones while driving has been jailed by a UK court for six years.
Sukhdeep Singh Johal, 27, of Leicester, died on the A47 near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire on March 15 last year when 31-year-old Marina Usaceva, of Peterborough, rammed her Jaguar X-Type into the back of his Peugeot 206, causing a three-car pile-up.
At the scene of the accident, Usaceva told authorities she had not been using her phone. But after investigating, it was found that she had sent and received texts and calls on two separate phones shortly before the accident.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Authorities discovered Usaceva had used a Sony phone to send a text message at 4:15 p.m. and receive a message at 4:17 p.m.
A Samsung phone sent one message, made one phone call and received three incoming calls in the 20 minutes leading up to the crash.
The Jaguar was travelling at least 70mph in a 60mph area, but witnesses said the car was going much faster because it braked sharply for a speed camera, hitting Johal and causing a three car pile-up.
Usaceva admitted causing death by dangerous driving in an earlier hearing. She has previously been cited twice for using her phone behind the wheel and had her license suspended in 2009 and 2012, the court heard.
