Glasgow headlines 25 August: Twin brothers jailed after drink driving incident which killed cyclist

A drink driver has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing charity cyclist Tony Parsons and the hiding his body to cover up the crime.
Alexander McKellar killed the man in September 2017 and was aided by his twin brother in concealing the crime.
Robert McKellar was sentenced to five years and three months behind bars.
Next up, parents in Bearsden have expressed anger after council workers ordered children to keep quiet on a school playground.
East Dumbartonshire Council erected signs at Westerton Primary reading “Please consider residents and keep noise to a minimum”, which parents claim is confusing for young children.
And in other news, more than 6,000 reusable period products have been donated to school pupils by Glasgow City Council and an East End business.
Councillors are aiming to break down the stigma surrounding menstruation as well as encouraging use of sustainable products.
The education convenor said “period products are a right, not a luxury.”
