Wales headlines 13 February: Man jailed for crossbow incident, troubles mount for WRU, 999 calls include missing house keys and ingrown toenails

  • last year
A man has been jailed for 10 and a half years for wounding with intent, following an attack at a property in Aberavon involving a crossbow. 51 year old Adam Caplan shot a 32 year old male victim following an altercation. A detective with South Wales Police said he is glad the sentencing shows the severity of the crime.

Troubles for the WRU are growing as Wales go winless in their opening two fixtures of the six nations for the first time since 2007 following a 35-7 walk over by Scotland. An independent task force to look into the culture of the Welsh Rugby Union is taking place following off field issues, including accusations of sexism.

The Welsh Ambulance Service have revealed some of the more inappropriate calls to 999 over the last year, while urging the public to use the service only when necessary. Some of the calls included someone losing their house keys, another with an ingrown toenail and someone who had run out of plasters.
