Himachal Floods should be declared a national calamity: Rajeev Shukla| Congress| Shimla| Uttarakhand
  • 8 months ago
The level of destruction that has taken place in Himachal Pradesh is unprecedented. It has not procured national attention. A total 330 people have died and 35 people are missing. 12,000 houses are destroyed. A total loss of ₹ 13,000 crore has taken place. 75,000 tourists were stranded along with 17,000 automobiles. Every minister was working day and night to evacuate people from this challenging situation. We are requesting to the central government to declare this disastrous event as a national calamity. Like the relief packages that were given during the Kedarnath event, the central govt should give such relief packages for this event as well. We are requesting a package of ₹10,000 crore. We have received only a small sum of ₹200 crore till now which is far less. We request to Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman to allow to donate money from the MP fund. The Chhattisgrah, Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka have given economic support to Himachal Pradesh. We request the other state to do the same.
