Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 things to do, and this time we're well into
00:10
August and the summer holidays, so how to fill all that time off.
00:13
Well there's some big events coming up and none are bigger than the Blackpool Airshow.
00:18
Watch in wonder as some of the world's most incredible aircraft and aviators perform jaw-dropping
00:22
aerobatics and flybys over Blackpool's seafront.
00:25
A brilliant weekend of free family entertainment with food stalls, side shows and a real festival
00:30
atmosphere.
00:31
Highlights include the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Red Devils Parachute Team Wing
00:36
Walkers, Fast Jets and of course the world famous Red Arrows.
00:40
It's on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of August and it's a free event.
00:44
Want to start?
00:46
From fast planes now to fast cars because the Lauda Pavilion in Liverm are holding an
00:50
evening of Italian cars in their beautiful gardens on Thursday the 10th of August.
00:54
Bring your Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat, Ferrari, Maserati or Lamborghini and if you don't have
00:59
any of those, just come along and enjoy a night of cars, food and drinks.
01:03
The evening is free to attend but a suggested donation of £5 will help keep the theatre
01:07
and gardens at the heart of the Fylde community.
01:12
Over to Clitheroe now for their famous food festival.
01:15
Organiser Ribble Valley Borough Council have decided to expand the festival this year,
01:19
now in its 11th year, and one of the most popular food festivals in the country, into
01:23
a week-long Ribble Valley Taste Fest.
01:26
The event from the 5th to the 12th of August will feature a series of themed walks with
01:30
taste, incorporating cheese making demonstrations, brewery tours and gin tasting sessions at
01:35
farms and food venues throughout the borough.
01:38
The free to enter festival is one of Lancashire's most popular events, attracting over 18,000
01:42
visitors to the town centre.
01:44
And that's on Saturday the 12th of August from 9am.
01:49
Now to the beautiful Morecambe Bay, because if you have children between 8 and 11 you
01:53
can drop them off for a kids summer safari where they'll explore the wild wetlands of
01:57
Leyton Moss.
01:59
Each session will be a jam-packed day of outdoor action and fun-filled learning.
02:03
On Wednesday 9th August they'll be exploring the mini-beasts of both the pond and on land,
02:08
and they'll be learning some map reading skills too, while adventuring out and about on the
02:12
reserve.
02:13
The sessions will run from 10 till 3 with a lunch break, so you'll need a packed lunch
02:17
and tickets at £28.75 for members and £35.25 if not.
02:26
Finally another one for the kids, because the Atkinson in Southport is hosting Sarah
02:30
and Duck's Big Top Birthday.
02:33
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the popular children's TV show, you can join Sarah and
02:37
a best friend Duck as they plan the ultimate circus soiree to help Scarf Lady celebrate
02:42
her birthday.
02:43
Bursting with all the charm from the BAFTA award-winning CBeebies show, Sarah and Duck's
02:48
Enchanting World is brought to life by the team behind the Very Hungry Caterpillar show
02:52
and Twirly Woo's Live.
02:54
Packed full of puppetry, storytelling and music, Sarah and Duck's Big Top Birthday promises
02:59
to be a celebration for the whole family.
03:01
There are two shows on Friday 11th August at 1.30pm and 4pm, and tickets are £14 each.
03:09
There you are, again something for everyone.
03:11
I'll be back next week with another 5 things to do, but in the meantime, whatever you get
03:15
up to, have a fabulous week.
03:16
See you next week.
