00:05 Hello and welcome to our latest guide to 5 Things to Do and this time we're

00:09 looking at the week beginning the 23rd of October and for some that means

00:13 another half-term break. I know, they've only just come back haven't they? Anyway,

00:17 if you do have little ones at home again you'll probably want something to do and

00:21 that's where I come in. So let's start with something for families because

00:24 between the 26th and 29th of October you can catch Boy George in Peter Pan at the

00:29 Blackpool Opera House. A big budget extravaganza adaptation of J.M. Barrie's

00:34 much-loved tale, Peter Pan flies into the top UK venues from October promising a

00:39 spectacular spin on the timeless classic adventure. Fabulous animated

00:44 digital sets redefine the genre with an immersive experience of magic and

00:48 wonderment that even the most cynical audiences will be blown away by. There's

00:52 a range of prices available and they start at £23.50. Flying starts but if

00:58 it's too early for Panto, oh no it's not, how about something for the even smaller

01:02 children? Don't worry adults, we'll have something for you, bear with me.

01:05 Chorley Theatre is the destination for Wacky Woody's World of Magic. Join

01:10 Manchester's top kids magician as he travels the world on a mission for the

01:13 magic circle to find a magic trick from every continent. This show is packed with

01:18 comedy, interaction, audience participation and of course magic. It's

01:22 aimed at kids from four to nine years old and it's great fun for parents too.

01:26 It's on the 27th of October at 2 p.m. and it's £8 a ticket. Now it'll be

01:32 the last week of October so a final call for Halloween events and what better

01:35 than the Circus of Horrors Haunted Playground at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

01:39 between the 26th and the 31st of October. Set in a decrepit fairground on the edge

01:44 of nowhere, haunted by creatures of the unknown, this fantastic new show is to

01:49 blow your mind with amazing sets, stellar lights, special effects and of course

01:54 beautifully bizarre circus acts, a sinister story and the darkest of magic

01:58 all performed to an original rock score. Whether a rock fan or a theatre goer, the

02:03 Circus of Horrors has something for everyone and there's even 4 p.m. matinees

02:07 each day for a more family-friendly show suitable for children. Tickets are priced

02:12 from £23. Now I promised something for adults, were you a child of the 70s and

02:18 if so do you have any idea how it affected you by the weird TV that you

02:22 watched? From terrifying films like the Wicker Man and the Witch Finder General

02:26 to the weird folklore of the Owl Service and even the gentle thrills of Wurzel

02:31 Gummage, a popular culture of the late 20th century is riddled with dark magic

02:36 and eerie stone circles. Since 2017 Stephen Brotherstone has been expertly

02:41 chronicling the terrifying popular culture of the 70s and 80s and Fortean

02:46 Times columnist Bob Fisher is the curator of The Haunted Generation, a

02:50 multimedia exploration of the weirder side of the 1970s childhood. In this

02:55 brand new show Stephen and Bob will be unearthing the twisted buried artifacts

02:59 of folk horror. Pender's Femme, Robin Redbreast and the BBC's classic Ghost

03:04 Stories for Christmas are all in their sights, together with more recent

03:08 editions like Midsummer and Ellie's Men. A supernatural sounding night is on at

03:14 the Duke's Theatre in Lancaster and it's on Wednesday the 25th of October and

03:18 tickets are priced at £12. Lastly then let's lighten the mood a little with

03:23 some comedy. Fans of Radio 4 will be all too familiar with the comedy of Mark

03:27 Steele and you can catch him live with his new show at Burnley Mechanics

03:30 Theatre. Mark has come to terms with the fact that he's a heap of contradictions

03:34 trying to stay young while still being unable to log into any website, trying to

03:38 be respectable and mainstream until he can't help breaking into a steaming

03:42 rant that would probably get him locked up away somewhere secure, that's if he

03:46 wasn't on stage. The critically acclaimed Mark Steele's In Town was voted the

03:50 sixth best radio comedy ever and Mark is a regular on the BBC's Have I Got News

03:55 For You, QI and BBC Radio 4's News Quiz. It's on the 23rd of October and it'll
