Glasgow headlines 18 May: Four injured after escalator fault at train station

  • last year
Five people were injured following an escalator malfunction at Argyle Street Station during the morning rush hour on 17 May.

These people were said to have suffered minor injuries and four of them were taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation is now underway by the British Transport Police, whilst a Scotrail spokesperson said they were sorry to those affected.

Next, two teenage girls climbed to the top of the Finnieston Crane without safety gear.

The police were called by passersby who noticed the pair at the top of the 175 foot landmark which overlooks the River Clyde.

Officers said they were given suitable guidance then taken home.

And finally, road users visiting a Glasgow retail park took to social media to express their fury after waiting in ‘gridlock’ traffic for three hours whilst trying to drive home.

Resurfacing works in the area surrounding Darnley Retail Park have led to road closures and temporary traffic lights and these are expected to last for several more days.
