The only album from the Los Angeles-based band that took the name of the famous Indian newspaper Blue Mountain Eagle Express. The album was recorded from August to December 1969 and was released in early 1970 by Atlantic/ATCO Records, to which the band was personally credited by company founder Ahmet Ertegun. The album was produced by Bill Halverson ("Cream", "Crosby, Stills & Nash"). Unfortunately, the group did not last long and broke up in September 1970 after the failure of the single "Marianne" - a cover version of the hit by Stephen Stills.
