Mogul Thrash — Mogul Thrash 1971 (UK, Progressive/Jazz Rock)

This band was formed by James Litherland in 1969, after he left the Colosseum.

Litherland participated in the famous "Those Who Are About To Die, Salute You" and left some compositions that would be used on the album The Grass is Greener. He invited John Wetton and this single Mogul Thrash record was the first he was on. The other members were also rookies. The sound they made is similar to the Colosseum, but with less blues and more brass in long pieces full of guitar improvisations. The record was produced by Brian Auger, who also plays piano. In fact, it was Auger who suggested the name for the band, because when he met it was called James Litherland's Brotherhood. Shortly after releasing this great record, Mogul disbanded. Wetton went to Family and then to King Crimson.

The only LP from the Scottish progressive band formerly known as "The Dundee Horns" and which became for some time the home of guitarist/vocalist James Litherland (ex- "Colosseum") and bassist/vocalist John Wetton (hereinafter "Family"/"King Crimson"/ ”Roxy Music”/”Uriah Heep”/”UK”/”Asia”)… The group’s saxophonist Roger Ball would later become a famous session musician who would work with Kiki Dee, Dana Gillespie, Bryan Ferry, Gordon Giltrap, Vinegar Joe and others. Producer: Brian Auger. Heavy prog jazz rock.
